I have a AA and a BA in History, but am not really marketable in this economy. I am thinking about getting a ?

Associates as a Paralegal or a certificate, does anyone have any feedback on this. With the economy going into the tank, I think getting a job in the legal field may have promise

Update:

Please don't advise me to go to law school, I am 56 years old and have already committed about ten years to my education (including three semesters in the Masters program). I just want to go to work and earn some well deserved money...please advise

Update 2:

Manolito, thanks for your response, but I need to stay in the Detroit area and teaching positions are hard to come by. I know other states are begging for teachers, but I just returned from Florida, and have no intention of moving out of state for a position. but thanks for the advice.

Update 3:

Thanks MM, I have put a lot of resumes out there, but not in the legal field. I may try that, but there is a lot of competition in the job market in the Detroit area, and I really think I have to walk in with the credentials to compete. I appreciate our response.

Before you go spending more money on a potentially unnecessary credential, you may want to try just putting your resume out there as is. Your BA should be enough to show that you're capable of doing the work, and the right firm might be willing to pay for you to get any additional training.

What about teaching, if you are inclined to do that ? Get a teacher's certificate. In the legal field I think uncertainty will increase in the present economy. There is always a need for teachers.
