Carpet Cleaning-Puppy pee and eliminating?

Got a new puppy and he's had pee accidents and I'm trying to get the odor out. I've searched online and found that vinegar and water does the trick to eliminate the odor. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the vinegar and water in the rug shampooer. I wanted to try and see if it worked by using the rug shampooer and dilute the solution to see if I can eliminate the odor and do the whole carpet this way? Other than Natures Miracle and saturating the entire carpet, the vinegar seems to be working. I just didn't want to use the shampooer if it would ruin the shampooer, it's fairly new. I figured that if you can clean a coffee maker with the vinegar it wouldn't hurt to use it in the shampooer, any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have had great success with rock salt dampened (not soaked) with vinegar. Put that on the effeted areas and leave to dry then vacuum. I removed the odour from spilt milk in a car and the odour when we had a power failure while away and the juices (blood etc) ran from the fereezer onto the carpet. It completely removed the odour. Thorou washing did not remove the smell but the vinegar and salt did.

GEt what you can up with the regular shampoo, then spray on the stuff you get at the pet store that eliminates pet odors. IT works super great, and a little goes a long way. It does not hurt to saturate it; you need to do that so it will go all the way down into the carpet. Dogs can smell one drop of urine in a hundred gallons of water (or something incredible like that), so if you don't get the odor out deep in the fibers, the dog will pee there again because the smell will remain (at least to the dog; you won't know it).

I used to have a cat that would pee all the time in the same spot. My vet told me to use white vinegar and water 50/50 and saturate the area with a spray bottle. Let it dry, dont soak it up or wash the carpet. It did take the smell out. Good luck with the new puppy.

    Hi

one thing I put everything in my carpet cleaner as long as its liquid... I had some towels that i washed and they still smelt like musty old..someone told me that for pets and laundry to use Borax I buy it at the grocery store it with the laundry detergent. it is a power I never looked to see if they make a liquid but you can mix it with water to dissolve it then you can mix with the soap that goes with the shampooer..it only cost about 4.00 for a good size box. Hope this helped
