If you saw a weimaraner on the street?

If you saw one on the street and did not know it was a weimaraner, or never knew what a weimaraner was or whatever reason it was. What would you think the dog was?

I ask because i get lots of different breeds when people mistake my weimaraners for them. I find it interesting.

Update:

i mean what other breed would you think it was.

Update 2:

once i get more answers i will tell you the ones i get one is really surprising

Update 3:

Um i know who william wegman is i met him in person so i dont need anyone to tell me who he is

Update 4:

i have 3 weimaraners one from my breeding and two others we got from breeders.

Update 5:

this is a hypothetical question if you didnt know what they were what would you think they were

Update 6:

they are great but a handful. They are not a breed for everyone. they are too smart for there own good lol.

Update 7:

This is what i get: Great dane, vizsla, chocolate labrador, any other labrador, german shorthair. And my personal favorite greyhound.

Update 8:

yes greyhound i always look at which ever one i have at the time and im like if she/he a greyhound she/he is one butt ugly greyhound, but a beautiful weimaraner.

Update 9:

vizsla is not a stupid guess i agree.

Update 10:

i love long hairs but they arnt recognized over here, most i have seen dont have great coats also

Update 11:

you would be surprise how many people dont

I've gotten the greyhound question but the strangest thing I have been asked was if Abby was a border collie. I was flabergasted and I didn't know what to say, so I just said no.

I would say a funny coloured vizsla. But this is a hard question for me cuz im quite good on breeds. Our dogs always get mixed. We have a Blonde hovawart and we get people who have BRED golden retrievers thinking he is one. Or a mix.He was in an 'any variety working' class at a show and somebody said 'he's quite a good labrador...=S....a)nothing like a lab...b) labs are gundogs not working....lol And my Smooth collie is always described as an interesting mix. I get ' is that a PURE collie?' an awful lot...it gets tedius after a while.

Greyhound is FUNNY!....we have a little Jack russel/staffordshire bull terrier mix. and she was mistaken for a greyhound.....that was odd....baring in mind she is smaller than the average beagle.

Some people are crazy....but they keep me smiling

I probably wouldn't guess, I'd just ask the person what breed it was. I might think a Doberman Pinscher. I get a lot of remarks like that. Great Danes and Miniature Pinschers are pretty common, but people still are surprisingly ignorant about it. My Great Dane is almost always called a Dalmatian, and my Min Pins are always called Chihuahuas. I'm sure when I buy a Sloughi and Azawakh I'll get a lot of stupid comments.

  • I would hypothetically think it was a fawn dobie with uncropped ears. However I am familiar with the Weims as my grandfather hunted pheasant and quail up in South Dakota with one that he had imported (this was back in the 1940's before they were as popular as they are now).

I have a Redbone Coonhound and she gets mistaken for a Vizsla ( alot - I'm kind of impressed that people know what a Vizsla is - or a Bloodhound cross??)

I would probably guess Lab, just because they are so popular. Plus, the Weims that wore the overalls on Sesame Street--when I was little, I thought those were Labs.

    Add: Greyhound is pretty funny.

My mother thought that both an AmStaff and a St. Bernard mix were Rottweilers.

    No....

I could also see the greyhound possibility, but for sure, I'd guess the labradore.

We have a German shorthair Pointer in our family. Great hunting dogs! My son-in-law is a hunter, and Cleveland is about to enter training. :oD

<--------Ha ha.....I have been asked more than once if Pilot, my golden retriever was a "Great Pyrenees". I suppose that isn't too outrageous!

Enjoyed the post........the thinking part was fun!

    Hugs from Pilot and I!!

This is if I didn't know anything...

...I would think it were either a funny looking Labrador or a Great Dane runt.

Or a strange coloured Vizla and possible blue Dobermann

Haha, Greyhound!!! I got asked sometime ago if Loki was a Saint Bernard. I couldn't help but laugh. I do quite wish he was one though.

If I didnt know that Weimaraners existed, I would say a Greyhound mix , LOL.

Or I would say a daschund or beagle mix, I know, very crazy ideas!

I just saw one the other day actually, at first im thinking "Ooh! theres a Vizla!", then I went up to pat her and im like "Nope, wait shes a Weimaraner".

Source(s): edit* I agree with Corgi Girl, apart from colour they do look a fair bit alike. Compare these 2 pics for example: Vizla - http://cdn-www.dailypuppy.com/media/dogs/anonymous... Weimaraner - http://wallpapers.dpics.org/wallpapers/15/Weimaran...
  • I would probably guess a Greyhound, or a Vizsla. Hahaha I don't see where Labs come in :) Oh wait, yes I do!! I just looked up pics. Ha funny.

A vizsla!! They're the ones I would say is the most similar to the weimaraner in my mind.
