pontiac firebird light problem?

I have a 2000 firebird. I know that I'm due for a tune up soon, as well as some other repairs and maintenance (Such as new wiring, and fuse), but today when I switched on my lights, I could only get one to come up. It's been happening.

Now I suspect it might have something to do with the need for new wiring, but I keep hearing squeaks and odd sounds when I attempt to turn the lights on. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Is there a quick solution?

Car wiring don't wear out and don't need replacing. The only wires you should need to replace are your spark plug wires.

Fuses don't wear out they only blow when overloaded or short to ground happens.

Your light prob is what the other person said. The crappy, cheap plastic gears. Very common prob on 82-02 firebirds. TDS along with other companies makes metal/brass gears to replace those plastic junk ones.

Those steering wheel controls and door switches were notorious for the light bulbs burning out. They use tiny bulbs (not LEDs) that cannot be replaced, you have to replace the entire switch to fix this, so most people just live with it. If you have the Monsoon system, the speakers in the back seat area (not back in the hatch area) are actually small subwoofers. They must be replaced with the same Monsoon speakers, others will not be compatible.

    No new wiring needed.

    You can breathe easier now.

What does go bad is the shitty plastic gears that spin the headlights up and down.

Just google 'firebird brass headlight gears' and you will get what you need.

As for "new wiring and fuse", I think you are jumping the gun there, too.

    You're welcome.
