Privacy settings not saving correctly?
Ok, I wanted to change my privacy settings so some people I know can't send me messages (I didn't want to block them--just keep them from messaging me). I went into privacy settings, then to search options, and unclicked the box under "People who can see me in search can see..." for "a link to send me a message." I then saved it, and it said my changes had been saved. After that, I logged out and logged in under my friends account (who is not on my friends list), and did a search for myself. My profile came up, but it still had the link to send me a message. Am I doing something wrong? All I want to do is keep people who aren't friends from sending me messages, without blocking them completely, and when I change the setting, it saves but apparently isn't working. HELP!
Okay, I did everything that was suggested by the person who answered and the link to send me a message is still there and active. I don't understand. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

1) Log into your Facebook account
2) Go to the Settings link (in the top right hand side of the Facebook home page)
3) Select Privacy Settings
4) Select Search
5) Under the Search Discovery section you control who on Facebook can find you through search. Your Friends will always be able to find you. You probably want to leave this on Everyone.
6) Under the Search Result Content, you want to make sure "A link to send me a message" is unchecked.
7) Under "Public Search Listing" you can select if you want your Facebook public profile is available to search engines like Google or Yahoo. Select the box if you want this to be available, or uncheck it if you wish to be excluded from the search results.
8) Save Changes.
9) Log out and have someone who is not in your friends list try to search for you. They should find you, but should not have the send me a message link available to them.
10) IF after repeating these steps, the link is still there, it is likely that you have an old version of the search page loaded on your computer, rather than the latest version on the Facebook server.
11) Try pressing F5 to manually refresh the page. If this still does not solve it you will want to try clearing your computers cache. This varies depending on the Internet browser you are using.
12) For Firefox 3 go to Tools > Clear Private Data ... and then put a tick mark next to Cache. You may also want to put tick marks next to the other options, but for now, just do Cache.
13) For Internet Explorer 7.0 go to Tools > Delete Browsing History and then select the Delete Files button beside the Temporary Internet Files option.
14) Repeat step 9.

Sorry to hear this did not work.
The only other thing I can think of is that it may take time for the Facebook servers to update your changes. Perhaps try again in a few hours and see if the change has replicated across all their servers.
