Can a player score in this situation......?
A player has just lost/broken his stick and must abandon it.. The same player is caught up in a breakaway moving the puck with his skates.. He cannot kick the puck in, so he slaps it in with his hand (no closing action)..
Is this a legit goal???
Bonus---- With the Super Bowl now set, got me to thinking.. Which city has had the most sports championships from all its professional clubs (NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB) at one time in the same year???
Add--So clearly this wouldnt count.. Is there anyway a player without a stick can score on a breakaway-- i.e.-- knee it in, use his butt, whatever??? Lets assume he has an empty net..

If a player loses his stick while on a breakaway, and starts moving the puck up ice with his feet...............in the NHL, the play is always whistled down.
Always!
You can kick the puck to a teammate, but if you try playing soccer and foot dribble the puck, the refs will blow it dead EVERY time.

I don't know the answer to your bonus question, I will take a guess at NYC. With the Yankees, Giants, Jets, Rangers and Mets that should be a pretty high number.
There is no legal way to score a goal on a breakaway without a stick.
A player could however be credited with a goal. For example, a player moves the puck down the ice using his hands or feet because he has lost his stick as you described. If an opposing defenseman gains control of the puck then plays it into his own net, the player without the stick would be awarded the goal. Aside from that or a similar circumstance, there is no way for the player to get a goal otherwise.
Jay: If the player does that intentionally, the goal would be disallowed. The key word in deciding these things is the difference between deflecting vs. directing. In the hypothetical presented, there would be little question that the puck was directed.
EDIT: My guess was correct.

I don't have a date on this article but there is no city that has won 14+ championships recently.

No, it wouldn't be a goal since he intentionally knocked the puck in with his glove(pretty much like the skate rule)
67.6 Disallowed Goal - A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats or directs the puck with his hand into the net
and
When the
puck enters the net on a clear deflection off a glove, the goal shall be allowed.
and for the second part.... good question LOL
****
Hmm.... good question. The rulebook states that it would be disallowed if "the puck has been kicked using a distinct kicking motion." Not very clear, but if the player skates full speed and stops like Pommer does here at 55 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLZxAP6pZ3A directing the puck into the net, would that be considered a distinct kicking motion? Where's Lubers
Also, if the defending player hooks him while on a breakaway on an empty net, it would be an automatic goal.
Source(s): 55 seconds in here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW8qDxX6Nmw&feature... might be a better example of what I mean - Anonymous1 decade ago
1st question. hitting the puck it with anything besides he stick is against the rules. inless of cours the puck bounces off your skate/hand, with out any intention to hit the puck in,only then can it be ruled a goal.
2nd question.
NFL doesnt use home field's for there championship. im not sure on this. but i would like to think that maybe LA would have the most with the dodgers being good back in the day also haveing the LA rams, the LA kings{hockey} and the LA lakers. that would be my best bet but im not sure. also maybe boston with the patriots, red soxs and celtics.

Well to the one who said NYC try READING the wording. It says at THE SAME TIME IN ONE YEAR. So far more interesting question. If you call NY teams as NYC they may have done it, to be honest I can only think of cities that have had 2 at a time. I have a feeling some city held 3 in the same year at one time though, but I doubt any had all 4.
As to the first question LITY already answered so not much to say there.

Question 1 answered above as is question 2.
Foot note on bonus question...former TB Lightning owner Bill Davidson (and still owner of the Pistons and Det Shock) won 3 championships in the same year....NHL, NBA, and WNBA.

no it is not because it cannot go off the offensive player's glove.

no, you can only hand pass in your own zone...
