When I shut down my PC the hard drive is still spinning. Any ideas?

The PC is a Dell Dimension 8400 with a fresh install of windows XP pro SP3 and the hard drive is a 160Gb SATA. There is no option in the BIOS about power features and it's all on factory default settings.

Update:

Ok, for all you people giving me answers like I have no idea about logging off or installation of updates during shut down. The computer shuts down completely(screen switches off, fans stop spinning etc. as it should...The hard drive is still spinning although it seems that it's not spinning at top speed ie.7200rpm

Shutting down means no power. I'm not trying to be a wise guy here, but you are not shut down if you have power. Logging off is not shutting down, and means your computer is still running.

if windows works correctly, able to log in and us your os, then I would look at the power supply. If you are truly shutting it off, then replace your power supply.

What do you see that makes you say the hard drive is spinning? Is windows maybe finishing an update that was downloaded?
