The Great Anime Experiment: Revisited?

Okay everyone. I think it's been long enough. If you can't watch ONE episode of anime in 4 days, then you're never going to watch it.

So it's time to see what everyone thought. Just answer these simple questions:

*WHAT ANIME DID YOU WATCH:

*GIVE A SHORT SUMMARY OF THE FIRST EPISODE:

*WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ANIME:

*WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED THIS SERIES ON YOUR OWN:

*WILL YOU CONTINUE WATCHING THIS SERIES:

Hopefully everyone had a good time, and hopefully a few of you found something fresh and amazing.

Update:

My Answers:

*WHAT ANIME DID YOU WATCH: Innocent Venus

*SHORT SUMMARY OF THE FIRST EPISODE: In 2011, Earth's been screwed over by the weather, and the populace has had to rebuild. Japan is now harshly divided between an elite upper class, and a walled off poor lower class. At the moment the anime focuses on the elite class trying to squash and catch some rebels, and is told from the rebel's point of view. Essentially think of this as being Code Geass, except without the magic (there ARE mecha though), and done more intelligently and realistically.

*WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ANIME: Pretty interesting so far. I like the level of realisim, and the action sequences have been fantastic. That being said, I ABSOLUTELY HATE GORA. I hope he gets killed off, or loses his ability to speak or something. All the other characters were fun and intersting though.

*WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED THIS SERIES ON YOUR OWN: Most likely not.

*WILL YOU CONTINUE WATCHING THIS SERIES: Probably.

Update 2:

Sadly, Yahoo deleted the original question. So here are the first 20 people who played along, in order, along with the anime they suggested:

Mat- Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Shockwave- Histories Strongest Disciple Kenichi

SFG- Black Cat

Amber- Innocent Venus

Stephen- Mahoromatic

PICKLES- Nana

Hikora- Persona: Trinity Soul

Chrissy- The Vision of Ecaflowne

Skelletor- Ninja Scrolls, the Story of Jubeii

Fu Spu- Cobra The Animation: The Psycho-Gun

デス・ザ・キッド- Sprial

MagicIdiot- Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

FriendlyBob- Ghost Hunt

ღ ƒრล ღ 鋼の錬金術師 ɬՀ Ɛ๗ɭч- Gintama

Casca- Berserk

Kawaii Anime Girl- Shugo Chara

Krystal- Honey and Clover

Jeremy- Kaiba

Black Winged Assassin- Gintama

Pгιηcε ß ♥ s к y ε.- Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni

Update 3:

Gawd... Last edit, I promise. The reason I did Innocent Venus was because I had already seen both Kenichi and Black Cat. Sorry guys.

    *WHAT ANIME DID YOU WATCH:

    -Sci Fi Harry

*GIVE A SHORT (*coughs*-- didn't see that word) SUMMARY OF THE FIRST EPISODE:

    - Its starts off with what could easily be a glimpse of the future or past. The story then goes to the present, where a school basketball is being played. The protagonist of the story, Harry McQuill, is portrayed as physically inept, and a total...er...loser, so to speak. Easily intimidated, he is easily provoked by his antagonizing class mates, but somehow is able to gain confidence when a girl named Catherine, girlfriend to a member of the basketball team and one of the very few people who are at least somewhat decent to him, cheers him on. Inspired, Harry tosses the ball unbelievably high, and it crashed into a school window, causing the glass to shatter and fall on not only Catherine, but a number of students.

The members of the basketball team attempt to beat him up afterward, but Catherine's boyfriend stops them.

Harry starts remembering the torment that his classmates inflict on him, and the episode soon shows a traffic light pole that had suddenly and unnaturally fallen, and landed onto the roof of a nearby car, which just so happens to be the car of two detectives who we discover to be the ones investigating ominous murders happening in the city.

Again, it switches back to Harry who is daydreaming on a park bench. He bumps into Cathrine, and apologizes profusely for causing her injury, in which she easily shakes off his determined guilt and offense, and forgives him.

Catherine leaves and goes home, where her younger brother Elliot-- a sickly kid who is obsessed with television-- is introduced.

Harry, at home, thinks back on Catherine in a daze, and it is obvious that he has a crush on her.

Catherine goes on a date with her boyfriend, and when he tries to run his hand under her shirt, she stops him and apologizes. He leaves to get something to eat, and just seconds later the car door opens. Catherine turns around thinking that it's her boyfriend, and shrieks when a man in a mask with a knife is sitting beside her. The man drives off, leaving her boyfriend behind, and takes Catherine to a deserted warehouse where Harry just so happens to be walking past. He sees her being assaulted, and tries to help her. When he becomes frustrated, there is a loud explosion at an nearby building, and the assaulter (s) run off, and then Catherine and Harry.

Catherine takes Harry to her house to bandage his wounds (-_-"), and she introduces him to her brother, though he is too focused on some psychic show to pay much attention. On the show, the psychic, Mych (or something like that-- I'm not in the mood to reverse the scene to see it again), tells everyone to lift up a spoon to see if they have psychic powers. On a whim, Harry obliges and lifts a metal spoon.

    It bends.

Elliot (the brother), whose attention has finally been diverted from the screen, hands him another spoon, and this time, the top of the spoon twisted right off.

Catherine laughs in bemusement and wonder and exclaims that it's "Amazing" repeatedly, and tells him to practice more.

The episode ends when the two detectives are called to a scene where another murder took place-- a person whose head was twisted clean off.

*WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ANIME:

-Interesting! Riveting! Attention grabbing! It has that gloomy feel that most Sci-fi/Psychological/Horror anime have (which I love). The art reminds me of a cross between "Red Garden" and "Gilgamesh", so I think it's rather gorgeous. Harry, the protagonist, could be better looking, in my opinion. He looks like a real freak. Heh.

*WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED THIS SERIES ON YOUR OWN:

Um, well, I started watching it on my own initially... -_-"

I'm guessing I didn't play this game right.

    Gomen.

*WILL YOU CONTINUE WATCHING THIS SERIES:

Yes! Definitely! It looks really good!

    ------

The anime suggested above are either ones that I've already watched, am watching, or have no intention of watching because I have either seen some of it before and disliked it, or it's just not my cup of tea (Shugo Chara *coughs*)

Thanks for putting everyone on there. I got mad when I found out that your question was gone. But I thank you for this I had a great time.

    *WHAT ANIME DID YOU WATCH:

    >>Innocent Venus

*GIVE A SHORT SUMMARY OF THE FIRST EPISODE:

    >>We start off the show by seeing these two people. There's a grown man and a small girl. They seem to be running from something. They hide from the people casing after them and later this guy in a Knightmare (from Code Geass) type robot thing come and saves them. Next we see them in an old run down house that has another man about the same age as the first one. And there is this small frog-like boy who is all about money. Later they are discovered my the people that were casing them before. They fight these people off again. So then the episode ends with the girl playing the piano in the house with is now in ruins. The End.

*WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ANIME:

    >>I thought it saw really good. It had good animation and quality. The music was amazing! And it has a nice story to it.

*WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED THIS SERIES ON YOUR OWN:

    >>I would have never picked up this. This is the first time I had even heard about the show. I'm glad that I did watch it.

*WILL YOU CONTINUE WATCHING THIS SERIES:

    >>I will. I can't wait to see what happens to everyone and why they are chasing after the girl.

Kimba The White Lion is from the creator of Astro Boy. It is the TV series that many believe inspired the Disney film The Lion King. A young lion cub learns the responsibilities of being a monarch in the jungle. Space Battleship Yamato was released in the U.S. under the title "Star Blazers." The 3 TV seasons have been dubbed into English, the 5 movies have not. Initially, it is the story of a brave band of people who make the longest journey into space that mankind has ever attempted, in order to restore the Earth to vitality before it is too late. Space battles galore, but it is the drama and the characters that hook you. Steamboy is a film about a 19th century where steam is the driving force behind everything. A boy receives a metal sphere from his granddad that holds enough supercompressed steam to drive a mighty machine for days. Almost immediately, agents for the company his dad and granddad work for come to reclaim it, but a note from Ray's granddad instructs him not to let it fall into their hands. While visually stunning, the plot is too simple for an over two hour movie. The "science" is pseudo, and "dead" characters keep coming back to life so often, it becomes a running joke. Recommended only for the pretty pictures. Additional: Kimba was remade as "The New Adventures of Kimba" in the 90's. While I've not seen the remake, people who have say to steer clear of it. Classic Kimba is available from The Right Stuf. There is also a movie called "Jungle Emperor Leo." which puts a conclusion to the original series. The DVDs of "Star Blazers" are dub-only, and are available from any decent retailer of anime. The Yamato films (sub-only) should be available from the same places. Steamboy is available on hybrid DVD.

So when I get home I will watch it again and edit this (I'm in class now =P )

*WHAT ANIME DID YOU WATCH: Gintama

*GIVE A SHORT SUMMARY OF THE FIRST EPISODE:

*WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE ANIME:

The comedy is over-the-top, and not really my cup of tea.

*WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED THIS SERIES ON YOUR OWN:

Yes, it was on my Plan to Watch list.

*WILL YOU CONTINUE WATCHING THIS SERIES:

Maybe~ I did hear it gets better after the first two episodes.
