If you were in charge of allocating (budget) the Church fund, how would you do it?

Like what percentage would you spend on pastor's salary, chruch building, local ministry and so on.

A little for me, a little for the church, a little more for me, a bit more for the church... and so on.

That would depend on the amount of contribution you receive each week. It would also depend on the monthly bills and yearly bills.

I would say that the preacher would be paid first and the most. Then the youth minister, Church secretary and any other employers the Church has. Then pay your bills plus the upkeep of the Church building, insurance and any other bills. Some of the pie would go to charity, prison work and the orphanage. Then missionaries (out reach), your teen program and senior citizen programs, vacation Bible school, Bible study material, If you have Christmas and Thanksgiving luncheons catered, visitors cards, supplies such as soap, toilet tissue and such also supplies for the children cranes, scissors, construction paper etc.and Communion supplies. You could cut the pie into 8

different parts and combine some of the programs.

Since I don't know your income or out flow and the number of programs you have, It's hard to put a % to it.

Some Churches are very large and have more staff people than a smaller Church would have. That would determine how big of a piece of pie would be given to salary employees. Also the number of programs you have would determine what % of the pie each program would get. How many missionaries you have both foreign and home land

I believe preachers should be paid well for they are the ones that are feeding our souls.

At the church where I currently attend, 95% of the money brought in last last went to paying for the rent and utilities.

The pastor said there would be no more of this, and so we now only rent out a room in a public building for a few hours once a month and then we have smaller group home churches every other week.

This brings the overhead costs down, plus my pastor and his wife are already professionals in other fields and they do not need any money from the church so we do not pay them at all.

The rental of the room is not even 10% of what we paid last year to have our own building and now we focus the money toward local service and charities around town. It's not as convenient as having one building but, it does make giving to those who God want to reach much easier.

  • First I'd pay the bills and the wages of the pastors, then set aside money for teaching tools, then for youth activates, outreach ministry and missionary works, then for charitable works, then for insurance and maintenance of buildings, grounds and church vehicles and fuel. But that just the thoughts of someone who hasen't had to balance the church budget it may sound easier than it is.anyway I hope this is help full to you brother.May gods peace and blessings be yours.

I would do it as the original intent was in the original church, which is to distribute to those in need according as they have need. The apostles were the example of other´s that would desire to be an overseer, which is to work their own self in a job, and not make themselves, nor the Gospel of Christ chargeable to any. As for a church, it is in homes, or at the most a rented facility; but never was it the intent to use collections for the purchasing of property, or building a structure; nor the paying of salaries; but again, only for distributing to those in need.

Some pastors don't take a salary.

It would depend upon the congregation and its needs. Each local church is different so this would vary greatly.

I would devote every bit possible to helping people in need... and the bare minimum to keep the building and staff... and absolutely none toward spreading the lies of Christianity.

I'd apologize for the horrendous fraud and give it back. I'd tell everyone that we can still work together to help the less fortunate, but I can't keep the money as it was received under false pretenses.

Source(s): Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand. Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.

One would have to know more details regarding church expenses, and charities.
