Why is any logical person against abortion?

Fetal nerve cells can react to trauma, but pain reception requires a neocortex--which is not formed until early in the third trimester. Therefore these fetuses cannot feel pain. Abortions are not something to be taken lightly, so to speak. They are not a form of contraception, they are a way to take back a mistake or save a child from a miserable life with a parent who resents them.

Update:

And religious beliefs are not proof or reason as to why abortion is wrong. The bible is a story, and you do not cite Green Eggs and Ham as evidence for anything.

The doctrine of separation of church and state clearly distinguishes for legislature to have no interrelation between any law and any religious institution.

Update 2:

A fetus has no conscious thoughts. A 'person' who measures less than millimeters, has no conscious and feels no pain is hardly a person.

Update 3:

Please do not cite eugenics in comparison to pro-abortion campaigns.

Update 4:

You just sound like an idiot comparing a holocaust victim or a slave to a sperm that penetrated an egg.

Update 5:

You would rather bring a child into this world to be raised by people who hate, resent, etc, rather than perform a simple, painless procedure to save this child all of the suffering?

Why don't all of you people go adopt as many children as you possibly can.

And A=B B=C A=C Guy, nice try. No one is arguing that they aren't human. No one is arguing that abortion isn't taking a would be life. I say 'would be' because I disagree that life begins at conception. There is a certain point where a fetus can sustain itself out of the womb that I consider the general point where the 'life' begins. We (or at least I am) are arguing that abortion saves a life of misery. The termination of a pregnancy causes no pain. An abortion saves a would be parent a horrible lifestyle as it does to the would be child. There is justifiable laws against abortions at certain lengths into the pregnancy, but not a law that prohibits any term abortion.

Update 6:

According to the US Supreme Court defined that life begins when a fetus is viable.

Basic algebra and a knowledge of the structure of genetic transfer show why abortion is wrong.

    If A = B and B = C then A = C.

This is an absolute law in Algebra. It has never been proved wrong even by Einstein and other Geniuses.

A = fertilized human ovum (egg) - In order to constitute being fertilized the human sperm (23 Chromosomes) must join with and combine a human egg (23 Chromosomes). 23 + 23 = 46

B = 46 Chromosomes - This number is unique to each living thing on this planet. Plants have them, animals have them and each has a different number.

C = Human - The only living thing on the face of this planet that has 46 Chromosomes.

No matter what stage of physical development a fertilized human egg is in it is still human given that A = B and B = C then A = C is always true. Cognitive function has never been a factor in determining if something is human. If it was then people suffering from genetic abnormalities would never be considered human.

Murder is defined as the voluntary taking of an innocent human life

the definition of Murder then begs the question: Is this mass of cells alive. By this definition it is.

Any biological organism that consumes resources and produces waste is alive.

I dare you to find any instance in nature that negates this definition. While I do not claim to know everything I am unable to find one.

    edit

Logic therefore shows abortion is wrong.

    Edit

You asked why a logical person would be against abortion. I have provided you the reason this logical person is against it.

As to your claim that fetus feel no pain that has been shown to be incorrect. As early as 8 weeks the embro has been shown to react to outside stimulus to include light, changes in mother's diet and yes pain.

    edit

The US Supreme Court said slavery was ok as well.

I don't think a painless death is any less than a death. If being painless makes it okay, then we need to let some murderers loose.

The way to not take abortions lightly is to put them in the same category as self defense. There is an inquiry and the facts come out in a court of law. A mother who is doing this for convenience is identified. But in the end, they should then be allowed to do what they want to do.

I'm atheist and pro life. I'm pro life yet believe there are valid situations where abortion must be an option.

We are systematically exterminating the human race in its must vulnerable state. No matter how you try to justify what a fetus is or isn't, it will still become a human, not another life form. If a woman doesn't want children, why doesn't she take greater control over her own reproduction. I mean, if she REALLY does not want to bear a child, there are numerous safe, affordable and reliable methods to prevent pregnancy.

    The OOP'S excuse is lame.

Besides all that, what happened to the adoption option?

How do you know the baby can't feel anything? That baby is alive and growing inside it's mother. It's not just a mass of cells. We're not just skin and bones.

Why should the child be punished? What did it do to you or anyone else?

A child is not a mistake, it's a gift. Abortion is not doing the child a favor, and It breaks my heart that some people think this is justifiable.

That baby deserves to grow up and live. What gives you, or anyone else the right to take that away?

Source(s): Call me illogical, but I believe in saving lives, rather than losing them.

No child is an accident. Only there are accidental parents.

And no child will say they don't want to be born. That's your excuse for your own selfishness.

No child is destined to a miserable life. A person who was born in most ideal circumstances could live a life of hell, as well as a person who was born in most miserable circumstanced could grow up to be a person who cures cancer, compose a music that surpasses Beethoven, or save the world from hunger.

You are not God. You cannot determine what life is worth living and what life is not.

what is wrong with you people?

a fetus is an unborn HUMAN BEING, from conception you know that it will develop into a HUMAN. Therefore abortion is MURDER

I bet you despise child murderers right? well that makes you a hypocrite because an unborn child is even more vulnerable

and what difference does it make if they don't feel pain?! does that mean we should legalize murder so long as the death is painless? should we be allowed to spike peoples drinks with sedatives and kill them in their sleep? That would be a painless death after all right?

Murder doesn't become legal simply because your victim can't feel it.

Murder is wrong in the bible. It is also wrong in most societies, even those that do not obey christian standards of ethics.

Separation of church and state merely states that the state cannot set a national religion and enforce all citizens to obey that religion. Everybody's personal beliefs influence how they vote and how they make decisions, and any law keeping someone from making decisions regardling laws based on their religion would be unconstitutional and entirely unethical and contradictory.

it is not logical. It isn't smart. it style of feels that conservatives in basic terms evaluate lifestyles to be sacred in the previous it truly is born. as quickly as a infant is right here, overlook low priced healthcare or welfare. Conservatives are huge hypocrites.

An unborn child is a person. I believe it is wrong to murder people.

You limit sources that people can quote as reasons because you don't agree with their viewpoints. This, in my opinion, is narrow-minded.

Murder is wrong in any society.

50 million unborn children have been murdered in the US alone since 1973 and sometime, we will have to answer to God for this. God help us!

Even if they could feel pain. Pain is just an evolutionary adaption, and so is sympathy. But in this case, our evolutionary sympathy is misfiring, is showing maladaptive behavior. Fetuses are a bunch of cells, just like a person.
