Chara has his coming?

Did anyone see that dirty hook Chara put on Ovechkin sending him into the boards? I'm surprised it wasn't a major. I hope he gets a load of brashear by the end of this game because he's definitely got it coming. Definitely lost a ton of respect for Chara.

Update:

It was purposely done. You don't hook somebody and make them dive head first into the boards. Bruins fan?

Update 2:

Ok, he was going into the boards, no doubt there. But that hook certainly wasn't neccesary and he was the reason he went head first into them. I'm just glad Ovechkin was fine.

Update 3:

Bob, i directed the "bruins fan?" to sam, not to you. I know who ya like and respect your vast amount of knowledge very much. I even got an answer from the almighty LITY.

To end it there, thanks for that goal shaone morrisonn... :(

Hi Weapon X. I didn't see the play in question so I can't comment on that but I can tell you that Chara is generally not a dirty player (like Ovechkin...sorry but thems the facts) and I think Chara is the toughest man in the NHL, in fact I have never seen him lose a fight before and he would likely KO Brashear.

This question makes me wonder if you have lost a ton of respect for Ovechkin with all of the dirty antic he has pulled over the years? Just saying. I could provide a video montage of dirty Ovechkin shenanigans if need be.

You are just emotional about it right now and are probably overreacting...I find it ironic because I asked a Q last week about whether Ovechkin would last or was somebody going give him what HE HAS coming to him........perhaps this is the beginning of him getting his.

Source(s): Sam.....You CAN get 5 and a game for hooking. lol I guess they deleted their answer. LOL Like I said X, I can't comment until I see it, perhaps it was a dirty play.....Chara isn't like that though. Bruins fan? Me? No Iggles, Phillies, FLYERS...bandwagon Sixer..Soul...Nittany Lion....hell, even the Wings...Philly Wings that is...Phantoms...Threshers(Clearwater)...Red Barons LOL

I'm not surprised it was a penalty, because it sure looked like one from the refs view, and in real time. After seeing the replay, Chara didn't really do anything. At least nothing close to a major, as someone stated. Yes, his stick was around Ovechkin's torso, but from what I saw, he did not pull on him or anything. You can clearly see Ovechkin's toe catch the ice, which is what made him fall. And no, not a Bruins fan. Blackhakws fan...so no bias here.

Shut Up. I was at the game and Ovechkin was already going straight for the boards. All Chara did was try going to the puck and Ovechkin turned into him and caught an edge. Plus he went shoulder first not head first, watch a replay. The real cheap shot was in OT when Chara was hit tripped right when he was about to score on the open net. Didn't matter though cuz our savior David Krejci made the most focused goal I've ever seen. Not to mention Thomas' full split to save a goal. GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It was a 2-minute hooking penalty...it's not like he was 10 feet from the boards.

It was not a dirty play. Seriously. It was an obstruction/hook, and then Ovechkin lost his edge. Pre-lockout that probably doesn't get called.

ovie was already going into the boards whether chara hooked him or not, he was skating too fast/ the only thing that chara prevent ovie from doing was slowing himself down he would have lost the puck anyway. I dont know why bruins fans were booing ovie, it wasnt his fault that the refs called the penalty and he wasnt faking either. I think chara should have got a diving penalty in OTwhen bvackstrom " hooked" him

  • I was actually quite surprised that Chara got a penalty on the play. As Andrew stated, Ovechkin going into the boards was inevitable. It doesn't seem to have hindered his game any however.

I didn't get to see it. I have very little control on certain nights what is on on the TV. Apparently everyone wants to watch some dumb new Disney movie and noone wants to watch the game....

But as Bob said above me, Chara is not usually a dirty player, and I don't believe he has some built up hatred for AO that could result in anything.

I can't really say anything considering I didn't see it, but I'll check later on youtube to see if they have it up, and I'll check the hockey highlights later tonight/in the morning to see.

Source(s): Andrew and LITY say it was nothing, so I assume it probably was nothing. If AO was already going into the boards then I don't see how Chara can be blamed.

I have to agree with most people here. It was not purposely done. It's hockey, people get checked all the time. If it was anybody other than Ovechkin, you would have been standing up cheering over the hit.

    LOL......dude are you serious???

LOL...... Crosby fan are you, maybe you don't like fighting???? LOL....he barely touched him.....he was out of control and drilled himself into the boards......LOL....open your eyes.

HOW do you make someone DIVE HEAD first into the boards???? PLEASE!!!! He was out of control and planted himself into the boards.

Don't get me wrong......nothing wrong with Ovie, he plays +110% and never slows down, but Chara DID NOT plant him on purpose. BUT if you want to stick to that theory then ask him aboot his KNEE on KNEE aboot 10 days ago on Wideman. DIRTY??

Stop "PRETENDING" things when you LOSE. His shoulder OBVIOUSLY wasn't hurt when he THREW his gloves and helmet off when he was in the tunnel. Tell him to stop watching Italian soccer and play the damn game of Hockey and not BETTMAN TV. GET up you WUSS!!!

Source(s): call me a Homer or thumb me down, but since you have so much respect for Loblaw, ask him aboot Bergeron and the Flyers last year. Except, OVIE wasn't out the whole year!!!

I really didn't see anything wrong with it on the quick look I had on the replay.
