Yes, emachines were branded by either Circuit City or Best Buy (can't remember which) as "cheap" home computers. In fact, many of them couldn't support networks. I've, unfortunately, had to work on quite a few eMachines, and I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot muse pad.

Yes I've heard of E-machine but it is not a very good brand. I'd pick Compaq if I were you.

Personnally I like emachines cause they give you a good computer for a cheap price compaq not so cheap and they like to do some use proprietory stuff so if something breaks you have to go to them to get it replaced.

E-machines are/were owned by gateway computers and are the "store brand Pcs" and are good for cheap PC when needed but if you need more of a game PC then stay away from them.
