Kay Jewelers sells "previously owned" engagement/wedding rings, do any other places do that?

The deals on those "previously worn" rings are amazing! I would be able to get a 1c. ring for the price of a 1/2c. ring! Unfortunately, I don't see any on their website that I particularly like. Do any other reputable jewelry stores sell previously worn rings? Any other thoughts on buying a "used" engagement/wedding ring? (I'm the female and would be fine wearing a used ring!)

Update:

Reply to miabella: As sad as it is, many of these diamonds may NOT be attached to a broken heart, but may be from a person who has passed a way. That would be no different than wearing a ring that previously belonged to your dead grandmother (something I would also do in a heartbeat).

I think most do. We have a jewelry store in our town and they are in other states as well called Rodgers jewelers. You can trade in your jewelry to get better and if you ask the sales person they have all of the trade in's so I am 99.9% sure that they would sell you trade in's. They may not be able to offer the same warranty as new (just like new cars vs used cars).

Also a lot of people trade in there smaller ring to get larger one. So no broken hearts there just husbands who love their wives so much he is willing to get her bigger rock when they make more money. Every time we go to the jewelry store I see a couple up-grading.

I didn't even know places did that! Especially, not Kay's. I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a "used" engagement/wedding ring. I feel the same way as you it's just like wearing something passed on from a loved one. Good luck in the search for your ring!

I think in these times, bargain hunting is the smartest idea.

I don't know of any other stores (or even that Kay's did it) that are doing that but i can give you some thoughts about previously worn rings.

I think that's an excellent idea. Espeically if your fiance and you are trying to buy a house and such. And don't let any of your catty friends or family make jokes on you just tell them, "It's mine now, so who cares!"

    Congrats and good luck!

I pointed out engagement rings from Meijer to my fiance yesterday, I would be thrilled with something from kays. I think you might get a better deal at a non-chain jeweler though, so check out some local ones and see what's there, too. You never know what you might find.

Miabella is dumb if she thinks that all jewelry store don't reuse diamond. You can't tell a new diamond from and old one. Ebay and Pawn shops are good.

My jewelry buys old diamonds- pulls them out and puts them in new settings so he can charge more money- it's common practice. They just polish them up and reset them- you would never know if your diamond was preowned- it's really just the band.

Also could be two mutal agreements made by adults that marriage isn't right for them- or a trade in ring... broken hearts.... too funny.

My ring is second hand (I am assuming, but it was in perfect condition) as we bought it from an auction house. It came with a valuation and was an absolute bargain.

You might like to try auction houses, they have some amazing stuff probably because most people would put their normal ring on ebay, but with something unique they look for more specific clientelle.
