Is there anything I can add to water to make plant grow?

I am mostly wondering if there is anything from around the home that can be added. I don't know if sugar, or lemon juice or anything random like that would help lol. I have a plant that isn't doing so well. I've regularly watered it, I have it in miracle grow soil...but it didn't get enough sunlight over winter I think. I just want to sort of nurse it back to life. Any suggestions?

Update:

I am not over watering the plant. I have had this plant for about a year and until the past month or two, it was perfectly fine. I believe it is due to lack of sunlight. I just wondered if there is anything to jumpstart it back to health.

If a plant isn't looking so hot, you shouldn't try to fertilize or give it any supplements right away. Doing that would get it to try to grow more than it has the current capacity to support. Also, just in case you haven't already, make sure it doesn't have any spider mites, mealy bugs, or scale that could be bringing it down.

What you should do is put in somewhere where it will get plenty of light, but no direct sun. The place should be warm and draft-free. When the plant seems to balance itself out again (leaves green up, new leaves begin to form) you can begin to use a fertilizer.

Oh, and actually, there IS a household product that you can use to help your plant. Epsom salt contains magnesium, which is part of the chlorophyll molecule. You only need a tiny bit; like a pinch. Just mix it in with the water you use. I use it all the time.

If you've already added Miracle-Gro you don't need to add any other nutrient.

Have you overwatered? Some plants if overwatered will have root rot. Too much or too frequent application of Miracle-Gro may also cause toxicity.

Some plants prefer partail shade, some full sun. Sunlight isn't always the issue unless it's been in total darkness.

Place in sunlight according to plant type, do not add any chemicals and do not overwater. Daily check soil with finger. If hard, add water until absorbed by soil.

EDIT: Some types of potting soil contain Vermiculite. The original soil in plant container may have this. Vermiculite already contains Magnesium and Calcium. You want to be careful if you add Magensium (Epsom Salt). Addition of too much Magnesium can lead to Magnesium toxicity.

Try reading about the specific plant you are growing---in most cases--you are probably over-watering it. I've seen people water a tomato 2-3 times a day and complain it's not growing; tomatoes should be watered every 3-4 day--they were drowning it.

Add store bought plant foods, and also egg shells scattered on the soil help the plants a lot.

Carefully tip plant over while holding it. Drop it out of the pot and look at the roots. Is it pot bound? Does it need a bigger pot? Does it have some kind of bug infestation? Or root-rot?
