what is the different between a laptop and a netbook?
my laptop died and have seen these netbooks for sale. What is the difference other than size?
I need something for simple word processing and internet access. I would need to be able to download skype since I use it to talk to my husband everynight. Can you do this on a netbook?

The size is a major factor- the price is another one. Netbooks tend to be cheap. They nearly always come with a webcam, and a lot of them have decided to do without Windows and go with a version of Linux. They tend to have smaller hard drives, but this varies depending on the type of memory. They weigh a lot less (generally less than a kilogram), and some come with built in 3g. It varies between each netbook of course, just like it does with a laptop.

Net books are usually under 10 inches in width, they are a lot cheaper, more portable, and usually don't have dvd roms.
