What Do You Think About the Statistic That Says Fighting in the NHL is Most Popular Among Women Aged 18-35?
What do you think about the statistic mentioned by Paul Kelly on the Versus intermission report today, that fighting in the NHL is most popular among women aged 18-35?
Usually I tune out during the Versus intermissions because the guys are a bunch of ding-dongs but this stat was actually pretty surprising to me.

I am a bit surprised. I would have thought for sure it would be more popular with men 18-35. I guess Sammy has a lot of letter writing to do to tell that many women they are blood thirsty creeps and have no femininity. It also puts Sammy in a minority wouldn't you say?

Hey I've never saw an 18-35 year old girl fighting at a game...well maybe in the stands but not on the ice. Anyway enough with the wiseguy answers. I think Verses has there head on backwards on Stats and just General hockey common sense to boot. I was at the bar so I couldn't hear the Shenanigans being spewed by the Vs. Guys, thankfully.

Consider it mutual. Most hockey players prefer women between 18 and 35 as well.
You can manipulate numbers to prove pretty much anything, I mean 100% of women of all ages understood the reasoning fighting is still seen in hockey until Sammy came in. (Not saying they approve, just understood) So now it's over 75%, probably not correct in the general American population.

That the metrosexual is, hopefully, about to go extinct like the dodo?
Question- which one of the Versus intermission crew is the one that looks like Andy Travis from "WKRP in Cincinnati"?
Still not as bad as Fonzie on TSN though...

I say don't believe everything you hear on Versus. Although I think it makes sense. I personally like to watch hockey for the skill and physicality during play. I'm really not a fan of a lot of scrums and stupid egos. I do enjoy a fight though, although I prefer fights for a reason, not just two goons trying to make there mark on a game.
I can see a lot of women who really don't care about the game so much, and would rather see fights.
I will say this generalization... Casual fans will enjoy fighting more than the games themselves. Die hards will enjoy both, but most would rather just watch the game. Fighting should always be a part of hockey.

I have seen many men and women get excited over hockey fights. I say whoever throws he first punch gets ejected from the game

I think little of this... I guess that it annoys me because of the skill of the game being overshadowed by a trivial element of the game but who cares? Personally, I can care less about the fighting in the game... I used to like it. Now, I mostly find it a interruption of the real game. I can take it or leave it.

Heard the same kind of thing about NASCAR.......something about 80% of their fans are women! That surprised me.......makes me wonder about you women.
Only thing I have to say about it is that Paul Kelly is really starting to irk me!
Dewman- Kelly is the Union Prez, not a Versus staffer.

LOL Kimmy!
I think its a testament to puck bunnies. I think there has to be some way those results would be skewed, and I don't trust anyone associated with Vs. to work out the details.

It sounds like it may have some solid footing. Women of that age, may like the fighting among men, because they are in the process of choosing a mate. A good fight between warriors, shows them what real men are like, and that’s what they find alluring.
