How deep does a cut have to be to scar?
Well i have a lot of cuts on my arm (i used to cut, stopped about 2 weeks ago) and i was wondering if they will scar. I don't know how deep they are but can someone tell me how deep a cut has to be in order to scar please? I know it depends on the person but please tell me roughly.
Thanks.

it doesnt really matter how it was cut...it just depends on the person mostly. You can determine how deep a cut is by the thickness of a scab. If the scab is really high and dark its deeper. Also, sometimes you may have a mark from a cut for years, but they usually fade a lot.
if you do get scars, you could put a bit of make-up on it or self tanner.

There are creams designed specifically for wound and scar care. The most effective of them require a prescription, so you need to see your doctor. There are several over the counter remedies of varying effectiveness--search for "wound care" and you'll find a number of different products to try. It's not likely that the scars will be gone by February, or ever *entirely* gone, but you should be able to diminish their appearance. If it's really important that the scars not show, get a moisturizing coverup makeup in a tone that matches your hands (which may be different than the stuff you use on your face), and apply to your hand.

Well I've had minor scratches that have turned into scars, so it really depends on the person.. it's hard to say. I'll send wishes your way in hopes that they do not scar up tho.. and thank you for stopping cutting.. very proud. :)

I cut myself a lot-still do.
If you cut your arms they will always scar because of the thin tissue.
My right arm looks as if I have been in some sort of accident-it will never go away as the scar tissue goes darker. You just have to live with it.

If it is still there after 2 weeks, it is a scar. Normal cuts take 1 or 2 weeks to heal. Afterv that it will sta for a few years or forever

Try putting vitamin E on your scars and buy a Starlite laser for about $150. I've never had your problem, but good for you that you've stopped. Did you know Angelina Jolie used to cut herself?

It all depends on your body. I've got scratches that have turned into scars. I've had deep slits (not from self-mutilation mightn't I add) that needed stitches and you can barely see them. It's different for everybody.

I've had deep cuts that barely scars, and some shallow ones that have. Also had deep cuts that did scar, and shallow ones that didn't. Can't really rightfully say how deep it has to be. Please don't cut yourself just to see. Thanks.

it honestly depends on how it was cut. if it waas cut nice and cleanly through it most likely wont scar. if the cuts more jaged it will most likely will scar
