Why do so many people here lack the nerve or knowledge to admit that the real problem in this failing country?
is that corporate interests have their tentacles so far up the buttocks of most of our congress that they have to ask permission to go to the bathroom, much less represent the interests of the public no matter which party you belong to.

It's not just here it's everywhere. I have this coworker that insists on channeling every political debate into a democrats vs republicans it's so stupid because the problem runs so much deeper than that.
It's NOT going to change without violent revolution i'm convinced of that. Why in the world would these corporate masters willingly give up power except by force? Easy answer, they won't. We'll have to take it back the old fashioned way with pitchforks and torches and we're a long way from getting to that point. It will come though, eventually. Could be tomorrow could be in 200 more years, but it will happen.

Your right, but only to a degree.
I would say that greed is one reason why this country is seeing these problems. But, not just on the part of the corporations.
Another big problem is the fact that we as a people still condone these actions by our simple lack of discipline. Gas prices rise, so we buy more gas to make sure that we can fill our tanks before the price rises again. Our we serious?
Corporations are greedy, and I think we as a people have become blind, ignorant, and stupid. If the economy is hurting so much right now, how is it the certain baseball players are signing historical contracts worth hundreds of millions. Where do these ball clubs get their money.
WE PAY!!
Self indulgence is killing America more then any other thing. But no one wants to put blame on themselves. We are all part of the problem.

The majority of THE PEOPLE are as greedy and selfish as the ones who rise to the top or are too willing to accept the status quo as long as they get something for themselves. They turn a blind eye to how others lose to the powers that be until they themselves are the losers; THEN it's a problem. In this way, as a country we scream how much we hate taxes or someone possibly reaching our level much louder than we do for an equal, fair distribution of resources and a level playing field for all; so many of us want ahead of THOSE OTHER PEOPLE we don't actually live by the principle that we are equal. We are so obsessed with getting ahead, the status of being above someone else, we wouldn't solve our problems with a gov't of perfect people.(A gov't this country would never actually vote for; a gov't that would make us actually BE equal.)

Amen.
I find it fascinating that there are so many that BELIEVE that there is EVIL in this world, but that they REFUSE to believe that it exists in America, and that it has infiltrated OUR government. Like we have garlic cloves hanging around Washington or something that "protects" America from INTERNAL evil.
We must be afraid, very, very afraid that someone from far away can do us terrible harm, we MUST surrender our civil liberties to keep us "safe" from this terrible EVIL, but what I fear the most is the creature you have described.
America could NEVER be brought down by ANY other country, we don't NEED to, we are rotting from within, and surrendering without firing a shot.
Denial.
Go figure.

I totally agree with that.
For example, I was under the impression that the gas prices had gone up because of the Iraq War. In reality, it was because of Wall Street. Some of those jerks just wanted to make more money. And they took tax money to "bail them out." What a travesty.

I agree. And go figure I am a conservative. However, corruption that trickles from big business into government, therefore making government stronger is a bad thing. A small govt would take the ball out of the corruption in two ways. It would de-leverage corruption from corporate execs and lessen govt pork barreled spending. Trustbusting is needed however, freemarket is still a good idea I believe. Oligopilies and monopolies are a bad thing though, as it induces price fixing.

I agree. People blame Bush, liberals, or the conservatives. Problem is, many of these politicians fall under the same branch of corporatism, they'd rather follow the money, instead of defending the Constitution.
When shall we march to DC to restore the government to its limited, and constitutional order?

And the reason they've got their tentacles in so deep is because we allowed their corporations to get that big. So big, that if they fail our very economy is in peril. So big, that the government can't say no...

Because many of us have those same corporate tentacles up our own buttocks....I hope the corporations aren't able to identify me for saying that....(me so scared!).

There's a joke that goes like this:
Offer $5 and a Bible to your toddler.
If he takes the $5 he'll be a tycoon.
If he takes the bible he'll be a minister
A couple tried it and the kid took the $5 and stuck it in the Bible and took both.
The parents were thrilled, "He's going to be a politician!"
