Who educates those who "work hard" and become successful?

In a recent post, college profs were accused of being liberals (oh, the horror...), and of essentially not being bright enough or motivated enough to get a "real" (ie. megabucks) job. Then, in another question, the conservatives came back with: anyone who works hard and gets a good education can "make it" (ie. not be "poor"). Well, explain to me, then, who provides this education? (Faux Snooze??)

Update:

No, not a professor, nor a Conservative (my fingers tremble as I type that dastardly word....), just a well-educated and VERY intelligent, but very, very poor person.

First, there is a difference in "education" and "getting an education"

Have you ever read a book that wasn't assigned by a teacher? That's education. Studied something in your field outside of work hours or class assignments? That is education. Most education that individuals have is self taught, but it is the certificate or degree that increases earning power.

Getting an education is going to class approx. 600 times in order to receive a bachelors degree. For it to count as a "real education" it needs to be from a respected, accredited institution in a field that is in high demand. You can learn from people who you do not share the same ideology with, You simply screen out the Left or Right bias. In most classes such things never come up, mostly only in history, political science, and philosophy courses. Hard science and business courses, not so much.

A "real job" to me is anything that pays enough for you to sustain yourself. I was able to do it at KFC cooking chicken, becuase I live cheaply. To some that will never be a "real job", because they manage money poorly.

When it comes to increasing income, no matter where you work, by showing up everyday early, staying late and taking on increasingly more leadership roles and responsibility, you will achieve this.

As far as "making it" goes, that has more to do with how you spend money rather than your education level. If you are not happy asking "would you like fries with that?", then further education is necessary, BUT you have to educate yourself on personal economics. There are people with masters degrees, who barely "make it" because they buy expensive houses and cars to keep up with the Jones's. No amount of income can make up for bad personal economic knowledge.

Because when women become successful, they see men as losers even if these women only makes 10k more. But men tend to keep the job longer than women, so it's all about women ego. I feel sorry for the women who wait long to find a good man. If other women are smart like me, they will marry who they love and build a life together.

From my experience it is the "school of hard knocks". I came from humble beginnings as the saying goes and by sheer hard work, determination and self education am in a fairly stable position that allows for a modest life style with a decent quality of living.

I am no rich nor do I desire to be. From what I have seen of the self indulgent greed of the "rich folks" I would not want to be associated with them.

The really well of ones are college dropouts, Bill Gates, etc. Most of the big boys who are also not stealing from the company or bilking people are from Universities where liberals and socialists are not welcome Just a reminder, most of the wealthy were educated long before your pinko fruits, socialists/liberals, and politically correct jerks were teaching.

The under 35 crowd, not many will make real wealth or keep it. The majority are from the wealthy families. Its inherited.

Because Conservatives get a degree and go to work Liberal have more PhD so you say and I believe it they are only book people and cannot will not work.

    Perpetual students bottom feeding scum.

Not the ones who pay for their own schooling that is their own choice.

Freedom and liberty to enjoy the fruits of your "hard work" is what makes success possible.

Education without freedom and liberty and just a deeper form of tyranny.

    You are so clever.

    I reckon that you are

    A) A college professor

    B) A trustafarian.

    Love,

    Mrs. Love Dr.

HELLO! I have know many "well-educated" loberals (sic) who are dirt poor.

Not too many CONSERVATIVES who match that profile.

You can't teach ambition. Education is not what makes people rich. Its the will and ambition to do so.
