Problem installing software on laptop...Help!?
Im trying to install the 2008 edition of the programme Solidworks on my laptop. Ive deleted all older editions of the prog from my laptop.
On installing, and opening the Prog, I am faced with this warning : Solidworks is one or more files it needs to run properly. -Re-install Solidworks before proceeding. If you do not re-install, lightweight assemblies will not save properly. -
I have done this but it still says the same thing, It hasnt happened to anyone else who installed the programme. I really need this programme for College work ASAP.
Can anyone solve this problem???

Do you have the latest .net framework installed on your computer? Go to windows update and install it if not, it should appear under optional updates. This hopefully should solve your problem.
If this does not solve the issue then download the latest copy of CCleaner which is a free program, run a registry scan and fix all the selected issues (making sure to backup your registry first). NOTE: This process should be done after solidworks is uninstalled from your computer and re-started after the un-installation had taken place. Then after fixing all the issues go to start and type run (in windows vista) or select run in windows XP and enter "sfc /scannow" without the quotes in the dialogue box then press enter. This will then check the integrety of your system files and repair any issues.
Then ensure you have the latest versions of the following software:
Adobe Acrobat
Internet Explorer 7 (for vista) or at least Version 6 (for XP)
After a restart try installing solidworks and this should now function correctly.
Hope this helps

Only thing I could suggest is:
1. uninstall 2008 version
2. Install an older version
3. install 2008 version again (without un-installing older version)
All apps I know of will deal with the older version being in place by either un-installing it automatically or installing new version in different folder.
If that does not cure it then check the release notes - it might need something like .net framework to be installed.

Try completely uninstalling it, and perform a fresh installation.
Start menu ---> Control panel ---> Uninstall a program---> Select Solidworks and uninstall.
Now locate the directory it was in and delete it. (e.g. program files/Solidworks)
Now install again.

cad software(s) can be contrary, but it seems your problem stems from something else - probably a registry issue.
not knowing any more than you've said here, all i can tell you right now is to do a scan (for bugs, viri, etc) and if you have any 'weird' software installed, get rid of it/them. registry-"fixers" do NOT work, so don't use one of those stupid things. do an online scan at www.bitdefender.com/scan8 and see what it finds. it may be that simple, but if not, your problem may be a little deeper, but don't give up because it most assuredly can be fixed...

Try installing the MSXML libraries again?

After that do a windows update to get all the security fixes for those.
