I'm just curious since this site is for every English speaking nation why only AMERICANS prevail here?

I know that this site is open to all English speaking nations and that they actually ARE in here, but why does the sum of all these nations equal just 20 percent with over 80 percent of folks in here being AMERICAN?

Is this forum not popular? Doesn't anyone discuss politics in the UK, Australia or Canada?

I find it really odd that all of Y/A is primarily American or appeals mostly to just Americans.

Curious to hear from these nations as to why their presence isn't as prevalent in here??

Update:

I doubt that very much Dave.

Update 2:

Dems you are not too bright are you. I just said this site is not just AMERICAN but open to ALL English speaking sites.

It was not an invitation to hear your bigotry.

Update 3:

Oh and the French have a province all to THEMSELVES---it's called QUEBEC.

See us Canadians were actually able to teach you know-it-all types something today too.

We dont need or want your protection BTW.

Update 4:

Sorry but you are on the ALL ENGLISH site not just AMERICAN. IF you were only in American those of us in other countries would be in our own country only.

I am on YAHOO CANADA by the way, but see all of you.

Update 5:

How do I know? Take your own poll....

To be honest fighting with each other (especially in today's divided political climate) is what we Yanks do. From our news to our entertainment everything has a political side to it. As dumb as it is the fight between the left and the right down here has become pretty much what defines us. Regarding YA...i'm here because it's fun and nothing said here really means anything. I think the only reason there's more Americans here than Canadians (or anyone else) is because there's just more of us than you. You're 30 million and we're 300 million (not a dis BTW). And to be honest most of us can't shut the heck up for for than a couple of seconds at a time (check out some talk radio and you'll see). I wish that we could learn something from you friendly people to the north. I've never met a Canadian that hates another Canadian over politics (hockey teams maybe but not politics). But at the end of the day if you want more of an international presence here then post more and ask your friends to do the same.

Pick up an English Grammar book and you will many countries are English speaking. Americans speak American English which is slightly different than British English. America (United States) is a country of many ancestral cultures. The most notable are the Hispanic (sometime call Latinos). As a result of the 1846 Mexican American War, the Southwest (New Mexico, Arizona, California including Nevada) became part of the United States. However, the Spanish language is used as well. Americans come from all sorts of counties, some which are not English speaking. Answer: Do Americans count themselves as an English speaking nation? It depends on the American who answers.

Hey now. Don't get too caught up in all the ignorance. I'm not sure why Americans out voice others, but it seems to be the case. I have answered numerous questions from you in the past and found you to ask reasonable questions. I've never seen you this defensive. But just for the record Reps have Dems beat in the bigotry department. But with that said, don't let these idiots get to you.

I frankly don't know why they do that unless the person posting post it in both sections for canada and the u.s.. I've noticed it myself. However I have also noticed that yahoo/china or places like that are all in Chinese. Maybe it's something you can ask the folks that handle the boards. Maybe it has to do with the arguing between the political parties. Things seem to be coming to what might be a violent end around here. There are people around here that want to change our way of life and of course there are the rest of us that are not willing to go down without a fight. Is there a lot of fighting like that going on where you live?

How do you know that Americans prevail here? Canadians write exactly like Americans do and even speak the same except for pronouncing certain words. I can't even tell who's British or Australian sometimes unless they say (write) so. It's hard to tell when you're just reading and not hearing accents. And taking a poll isn't reliable because people often lie or pretend. You can register your Yahoo account in any country that you choose so if you're Canadian, it will still say you're asking from Y/A US (if you chose that country) even though you're not.

  • Americans may well have more free time than those in other English-speaking nations. I'm constantly amazed how crowded it is on the high streets during business hours in the middle of the week. Of course, I'm one of those who are making it crowded! lol

Isn't Yahoo an american site ?

In England it isn't really a big thing going on the internet and discussing polotics, it is quite a private matter that you talk to close friends about.

I am on here for the exact reason that England doesn't have anything like this !

    GO AMERICA :)

Some countries have no internet, some with limited, some with censored, and the people on the other side of the world that have full access are asleep while we are awake!

You can alter your settings to get UK & Ireland settings where you will get a different set of Questions representing your particular country settings of which ever country you reside in ."jbird" is spot on with what he says.

Source(s): I still have an account with the UK settings

Because more of them spend their time on the computer I suppose.

I'm from Canada, and I think Canada makes up a large portion of the people on this site as well.
