Christians, can you watch my video and answer some of my questions?
I made a video about one of the major problems I have with christianity. I apologize for ranting, but I'd really appreciate some feedback from your side.
Sorry Funkmastergeneral, I didn't mean to eradicate your belief.
I just had an issue with christianity and I was hoping some faithful christians could answer my questions.
If you need help with your newly found atheism, let me know.
Sheep w Shotguns,
Hell yeah. I was on here before YouTube. In fact, my "Why do atheists care" video was inspired by the fact that so many christians kept on asking that question here. I got tired of typing out the answer so I made a video I could post a link to instead.

I agree that the idea of worshipping that kind of act is outrageous. However you also have to remember that not all Christian-based religions -LOVE- the idea of Christ being killed.
I'm not too familiar with how other religions view the matter, but the LDS religion believes that days prior to his Death, he took on the Sins of the world in an event known as the 'garden of gethsemane' (spelling may be off). Which is why they don't hang the symbol of Christ upon the Cross around their necks, which they actually view as distasteful.
So I think there is an issue here. Some Christian-based organizations believe that Christ redeemed our sins by dieing on the cross, whereas in my mind, he knew the end was coming and had to "finish his work" so to speak; which is what took place in the Garden. So I don't think it's so much that Christians are INTENTIONALLY viewing God as someone who loves human sacrifice, but they are viewing it as giving the ultimate price in an act of love.
I hope this helps!

k, you used the word "expunged" so I like, love you forever, no matter what the rest of the rant says.
and just to let you know, I honestly don't have answers, I Do answer the questions I know the answers to (or think I do) according to the things I've read and learned...but by no means will I ever claim to have all the answers. And also, just to let you know, like anything else on this planet, a person's spiritual growth is something we might not understand until we've gone farther down the trail...

re: bloody sacrifice glorified...*ahem*...well, we generally weep and cry about it when we think of it. We understand painfully what a humiliating thing it is, and we also understand that this is the way it is. It's there for all to see, as awful as it is, and crap, life is alot like that. I've had humiliating moments that I'd rather have not had, but they were learning moments

I watched up to 3:28 (skipped about a minute even of that)
It's a bit long, no offense... i just don't feel like watching a video on the topic right now.
I think what you said around the point that I stopped watching is that you think it's sick that Jesus died on the cross (according to Christian belief)..
The idea that a God would He himself experience the sh1t we go through is actually one of the things I like about Christianity. That's a demonstrated act of true selflessness (after all, it's for our redemption, according to Christian doctrine) to me. One that I want to emulate.
Christians believe that Jesus (who is God) bore all of our pain and suffering on the cross. It's not human sacrifice, but rather empathy and love on God's part.. the crucifixion is more of a statement that God loves us (however crazy or gruesome the story may sound).
Well, that's what I get from it.
I didn't watch the rest of the video.
Source(s): I'm a Christian who respects science, does not discriminate against homosexuals, and does not believe the only ticket to heaven (should a heaven even exist) is so petty a thing as being a "Christian." My favorite verse is 1 John 3:16: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. I have tremendous respect for Jesus's teachings, and advocate harmony of all belief systems (and lack-of-belief systems), including atheism- I only dislike militant atheism and fundamentalism of any sort... I feel fundamentalism (including militant atheism) is a waste of everyone's breath. completely counterproductive. - CharlotteLv 51 decade ago
I have to admit that your video really did open my eyes up to a very different view on Christianity, and I thank you.
I agree with you completely. I have always thought that religion was a complete joke, the idea of set rules on how to life, people judging and condemning the way you live, everything about it has always seemed so hypercritical.
I will be following up with you youtube videos.

What is "sick" is that we rejected our Lord and he still did that for us, because of his Love for us. Yes, the idea of it is sick. Unfortunately, it was the only way to atone for all of man's sins and allow them a proxy to actually be with God. God can not contain sin, he is Holy, therefore, when we rejected him, we chose (free will) to not be with him. He could, by all means, leave us to our eternal fate of being removed from God (Hell). Make no mistake - to atone for every single sin of every single man to ever live...how "nice" do you expect it to be? The wages of sin are death. Sinless-ness (Jesus) had to die and descend into Hell to "break the contract" we had signed with the Devil when we chose him and NOT God (original Sin). Yeah, it's sick. I see sick stuff on the news every day, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just remember: that's how much he wants to be with you, and would have done it for ONE of us, just as much as ALL of us.
Jesus was fully human, but he was also fully God. So, it was much more than a simple human sacrifice. It's even worse than you imagined.
Let that sink in. No matter what, you have a free gift of eternal life that you can't earn by ANY amount of "good doing". But you can have it free, for the asking. If your request is true.
No true Christian I know (who understands this) describes Christianity in the way you have a problem with. God is Loving. What we have done in rejecting him, and the depths of depravity the human heart can reach, don't reflect God. It reflects what we chose and inherit by selecting Sin over Love. God is Holy, more pure than we can fathom. The smallest "sin" to us is tremendous to him. That "little white lie" is only little to the human trying to justify it. Oil and water don't mix. The big drops, or the little ones. Sin does not fit into God. The little ones, or the big ones. Size doesn't matter. Substance does. There is Love and Truth, there is Sin and Lies. We, as humans, choose which we live in, and, will ultimately spend eternity with.
Choose wisely, my friend. You seem very intelligent. Don't let intelligence talk you out of eternal life with Love. He put this knowledge deep within us. True seekers of Truth will find it. Open your eyes and heart. God is Truth. Once you find it, you find him.
