A couple of questions about college... should i leave and go to college out of state? 10 points best answer?
Hi,
I have applied to BU and I'm waiting for my letter of rejection/acceptance. I was wondering how things like letter of recs, personal statement, minority status, work experience, and extracurricular activities weight in comparison to just a GPA and ACT Score.
Also, would you recommend BU? Or going to school in Boston in general? Or anywhere outside of CA. (I live in Cali)
Thanks

BU is an easy school to get in. The hard part is paying for it. All the things you mentioned actually play a big role in the decision making process. However, if your GPA and ACT score is down the drain, they won't help you too much.
I would recommend that you go wherever you want to go. If you think you will be happier in the East Coast, in Boston go there. My boss went to BU and he said it's the greatest city to go to school in. Half the population there is students from BU, Boston College, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, Suffolk.
Good luck :)

yeah there's plenty of good schools here in East coast U.S., even in new york can go to a suny school and pay like 2,000 or less. BU is a good university, have a pretty good football team in the Big East conference. If you like Boston then go Boston or go where u are, tons of schools out near California.
Letter of recs help to show what kind of student you are from school, statements help to sway them to say yes or no to you coming into the college, work experience shows what kind of skills you posess, extracurricular show you are either a busy person or didn't have the time for extra stuff. They look at that but focus mainly on sophomore to senior years, GPA, and the SAT/ACT test. If your good on those three then you can go anywhere almost and if not you'll get accepted somewhere.
You'll do fine, college was fun.

you ought to attempt to take greater AP or IB training in Junior and Senior twelve months to strengthen your opportunities. in case you're taking some and do nicely then you quite are transforming into a donning danger at Swarthmore. Ivy leagues must be somewhat complicated yet not impossible. yet there are a number of faculties that are seen to be as sturdy as Ivies which you would be able to get in particularly easily. I propose you study the classic "colleges that fluctuate lives" e book that Loren Pope has written. the universities pronounced there are as sturdy because of the fact the Ivies (in accordance to a pair human beings) sturdy luck!

Boston is a great place to go to school (I attend a boarding school right outside of Boston), it's a very nice environment to go to school in.
