What counts as retail experience?
I am applying for a job that requires one years experience in retail or sales. I have 2 years bar work experience and 3 years experience of working in a cafe would these count as retail or sales experience?

Absolutely. You dealt with selling things. You dealt with customer relations. You dealt with money. That's a lot of retail experience. It doesn't have to mean clothing.

Usually retail means that you've worked in a store that sells clothes, electronics, goods, etc. Sales experience means that you were involved in selling a product, like maybe a car or could be even working at the cosmetic counter at a department store. But apply anyway. The worse that will happen is they don't hire you. However, you could have skills that other candidates who have worked in retail and sales don't have. Give it a shot! Good luck.

I would think that if you were running a cash register that would be retail. Shouldn't matter what you were selling. Good luck.
