Chessboard of Life. Comments?

PAWN'S PATIENCE

Should I be King?

My movement encased

Maybe the Queen

All over the place

A Bishop? A Knight?

A Rook who castles

The elite have power

Clothed in bright tassels

But Pawn I remain

Just one of the crowd

My strength is numbers

Both flanks I surround

To move 'cross a board

A Queen in due time

I'll finish the journey

One space at a time.

What a good metaphor! I think the rhyme and meter in this is great!

It's even better read aloud. Good poem.

  • I particularly like this poem I do not know why exactly as I do not care for chess even though my charming young nephew begged me to play it with him.

I think it is that is just was very smooth and I do understand a bit of the game enough to see where the poem is coming from.

It kind of makes the game less daunting when it is in poetic form, maybe?

I enjoyed reading this. Smooth. The patient pawn.

Just because I have been doing this a lot today, you have mostly five syllable lines.
