Why do Russians hate "the West" so much?

Why do Russians seem to be so hateful against "the West" (EU, USA, Western countries in general)? They seem to assume that the EU/NATO/USA/whatever is just seconds away from a full-scale Barbarossa-style attack against Russia.

My view is that the western border of Russia, or the Russia-EU-border, is probably the most peaceful border Russia has today. So why the crazy paranoia against the West? NO ONE is going to attack Russia from Europe!

Because mafia that manages these countries has interests in regions around Russia.

Military attack not, but exist other ways like "orange" revolutions.

Government promoted paranoia , if accepted by a populace that has been duped by Government propaganda and restrictions on freedom of thought, speech and information, is a powerful tool that can be used to manipulate a nation.

It helps assure the elitist tyrants in charge can continue to gain even more power.

The same principle holds true for those in the USA who buy into their Government's promotion of one crisis after another.

Their current economic crisis is a great one for getting the needed power for installing a Socialist Tyranny in the USA.
