Is anyone else having trouble getting ammo?

I tried to get some 30-30 rounds for my old winchester, went to 5

stores and all the shelves were empty of all types of ammo, finally

found three boxes and the store told me that was it, no more ever.

Is this a supply issue or is it an unseen control issue, all ammo,

not just 30-30 he said was a problem to get, also ordered some

common rounds via mail and two month back order with no promise

of delivery.

Update:

Dirt cheap and Sportsmans guide both

back ordered

Update 2:

Is there a manufacturing limit?

This has been going on for months and months. I tried to warn people and they all "poo-poo'd" me as a paranoid nut. Get ready and hold on to your hat, we are going to see HISTORY and CHANGE... as the Messiah promised.

    Q. Is anyone else having trouble getting ammo?

    A. Yes. The local Walmart was pretty well cleaned out when I was there last weekend. Even the cheap .22LR was thoroughly picked over. Oddly enough though it only applies to firearms ammunition. Airgun ammunition is quite plentiful, which makes this a good time to buy an airgun and use that for target practice instead of a firearm. ;)

    A. As near as I can tell its a response to gun-owners stockpiling anything that goes bang because they're worried Obama is going to make it impossible to get more ammo at a later date. Stores that decided to drop ammo sales may be doing so because they're worried about new regulatory requirements or don't want to deal with the hassle involved with firearms sales anymore.

Obama has improved at least one part of the economy, the sale of guns and ammo.

Pretty much everything in the way of ammo is in short supply and the price is going up. Also any kind of "assault" rifle is in short supply.

You might consider getting ahead on the power curve and get a reloader for your 30-30 and your other favorite rounds. It is only a matter of time before the same supply and demand issue hits reloading.

I blame it on the Obama buying craze. Everyone is looking/waiting for the ban. How bad no one knows. The down turned economy also has more fearing thieves and looking to tough times. Most ammunition was bought of store shelf was replaced with warehoused stock that in turn was bought out.

What most people need to realize is ammunition is made in batches. The entire years worth of say .32 ACP is run all at one time then the presses are switched over to another caliber. Another thing to look at is as an industry very few bullet presses have been made since WWII. Common calibers use most of these machines time making bullets to be loaded. An uncommon caliber has to wait until a space is freed up. And these machines are working 24/7. In the past we were spoiled with military presses producing surplus low cost FMJ bullets, not only making these bullets and their loaded cartridges cheaper, but freed space in the production schedule for other bullets to be made.

March has the first installment of the 2009 ammunition showing up on store shelves. Your caliber, bullet weight, type or brand may not be on the shelf until much later in the year

A friend of mine said he can't find any 10mm brass any ware, and some people that I work with are saying some ammo is getting hard to find,I told these same guys for the past two years or so to stock up on ammo and mags wile they are reasonably priced and easy to find. They must of thought I was crazy or something.I have everything I need.I find it amusing to go into a gun shop and see every one hurrying to buy AR-15's and other popular assault weapons and ammo.

Here in Missouri, KCMO buying ammo is like trying to find the new fad toy at christmas time.. I reload and buy what ever is on the shelf that i can use whether i need it or not anymore..Seems people have just gone nuts about bans and increased taxes.. Well that is what they say anyway but i wonder just what are they getting ready for really?? Some real tough times are coming soon

    Something weird is going on......

    Some are worried about inflation...

    Others are worried about shortages.....

Some are worried about bans on certain types of ammo...

Others are worried because they feel crime may rise due to a bad economy

And at the gun shops / online / gun shows there are more and more lunatic fringe types warning of a coming revolution....

I bought a lot of extra ammo in the last year just becuase of inflation.... Some of the stuff I bough 18 months ago has risen at least 30% in price.......... I like to shoot a lot, my investments havent been paying jack so it was a smart move to pick up a lot.....
