I would like to know the ratio of paint to thinner for metal?

That will depend on the type of paint system you are using. It can be 1:1, 2:1, 2:1:1, 1:1:1, 3:1, 3:1:1 and so on!
The best way to tell is to read the label on the can. It will give ratios of paint to reducer to hardener to activator and so on.
