John is right.
The Blazer/Trailblazer is not an AWD truck. The newer ones have "auto engaging 4WD" which means it automatically engages the front wheels when needed. AWD means the wheels are constantly engaged. The only Trailblazer with a true AWD option is the Trailblazer SS.
So, in this regard, Blazer/Trailblazer has never really been an AWD truck. I'm not 100% familiar with the newer Trailblazer, but Chevy typically offers the selectable 4Hi and 4Lo along with the automated 4WD, so unless you are looking at an SS model, I think the dealer is trying to sucker you into a 2WD.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know if the blazers had the option of AWD and not just selectable four wheel drive. I believe the answer is no. Only selectable four wheel drive for the blazer. However the Trailblazer model has the AWD mode as an option.
