My little dog has just come into season what shall i do about exercising her?
Hi i have had dogs all my life but only males. I have 3 small male neutered dogs and one un-spayed small female (this is her 1st season so i was told by a vet i had to wait after her season before neutering). I take all my dogs out together and they are all off lead. But im unsure what to-do about her. I don't want to leave her in on her own and she hates being carried around the park. But i don't want her to come in to contact with any other males. as my males who probably fight to protect her? also obviously don't want her getting pregnant.
sorry this may be a really stupid question but im great with male dogs but dont know much about females.
thanks and best wishes kim
hi she is good on a leash just feel mean while my other dogs are off and she is on. im in england and have different rules on neutering. me fella would have a fit if i put a pair of knickers on her lol.
to the guy in bold who said males are NEUTERED and females are Spayed this is wrong as neutering means to remove reproductive organs so is used for both sexes. castration is the male form. sorry hate when people treat me stupid and are rude.

I would walk her separately, on a leash, and with a diaper. Here is why:
Your males off leash can get into fights with other males to protect her. You said you have little dogs, well, it will be very possible you will have dead little dogs if a big un-neutered male decides to tries to get to her. You may be injured as well in the fray. Leave the males out of it.
On a leash so that she can't run away to get pregnant, and also to keep her right next to you to keep watch over her.
Diapers because if she gets loose, she may be mounted.
Big males can hurt her if they try to mount her, even may kill her. You have an obligation to keep her safe. If she needs to be leashed and diapered, so be it. It will only be for this season. After that, she gets spayed and life returns to normal.
THUMBS DOWN FOR COMMON SENSE? No wonder so many dogs get put to sleep each year! Look at the people raising them!!!

Exercise her around your own home. Most dog parks have rules against bringing an in season female there as do most states actually about having an in season female OFF your property.
Doggy diapers will not stop a determined male or female from getting it off to make. Keep her indoors and have her spayed asap. Your vet is an idiot, you could have had her spayed before her first heat.

When ever my dog comes into season, i still take her for walks. Find a place near by which is quite quiet where you can walk your dog without meeting another. Keep her on the lead as well, she will still get plenty of exercise even if she is kept on her lead. It will be over soon!! Good luck with her xx

put a pair of underwear on her.
When my girl came into season I just walked her like normal and never had a problem. Just keep her on the leash.
I have to say that during that time there were a lot of male dogs from the neighborhood hanging out on our front porch all the time.

The best thing for your female is to be left at home during her season. Male dogs are driven to mate and fights will occur. If you don't think she will walk on a leash & that you can control her surroundings then leave her at home.

Other than a doggie diaper there isn't much you can do when she is off lead at the park.
If all the dogs have been socialized well, then there shouldn't be a fight issue. If you are concerned, take the boys to the park and when you come back, take your girl on a special one on one long walk.
good luck

Her vulva will swell, there will be a dark, blood colored discharge, you ought to take care together with her from this degree, she isn't yet waiting to mate, yet is "interesting" to male canines, at around 10 days into the season, the release will grow to be thinner, greater pinky (try on an many times occurring basis with bathroom tissue). by making use of now she will additionally grow to be greater skittish and puppyish (think of, Paris Hilton). today, she would be very waiting to mate, and could be receptive to adult males, she would be able to be able to conceive too. after around 5 days, she will seem to bypass off the belief, yet, will nonetheless be "interesting" to adult males for around yet another week to ten days, yet she is probably to be aggressive in direction of them, and ought to be broken. I, in my opinion attempt to maintain my women remoted, as quickly as they prepare shade, am quite vigilant for each week to ten days as quickly as the release turns crimson, and then permit supervised "visits" till she we could me understand she's ok back, additionally, anticipate her time-honored undertaking to drop somewhat, so pamper her for the duration of the third week, slightly Olive Oil on her nutrition, a diet supplement, despite.

Vets CAN spay in heat females, just cost a bit more. If your's isn't willing to do it, please find another vet. Females are SPAYED, males are NEUTERED.

best thing to do is to take the boys to the park without her, and then exercise her by herself on-leash.
