Geithner: Obama to fight international tax dodgers

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's Treasury secretary says the administration will unveil a series of rules and measures in the coming months to limit the ability of international companies to avoid U.S. taxes.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday that Obama will propose legislation to limit U.S. companies' ability to shelter foreign earnings from taxation in the U.S. He also said the administration will try to limit wealthy Americans' ability to use tax havens to avoid taxation.

He did not immediately provide details.

I think if that were to happen and the cheaters ran out of Washington then congress would be all Republicans. Democrats wont pay their taxes but is eager to force everyone else to pay taxes.

I read this in the paper today. Ron Kirk, picked as US Trade Representative, tried to avoid paying taxes by failing to claim lecture fees as income. He also tried to claim the cost of basketball tickets as deductions.

The White House, according to the article, stated it was "a minor error" on his part.

If I did it, they would call it tax fraud.

The FBI had to do a background check on all the people Obama's allowed to call using his blackberry... if they can do that why didn't they check all this?
