  • Dealer won't pay off car I traded in?

I bought a new car from Central Kia in Plano, TX six weeks ago. I traded in a 3 yr old vehicle. Central Kia has not yet paid off the note on the car I traded in. First they told my bank they would overnight the payment...they did not. Next they told my bank they only paid once a month and that they would send the payoff by "Monday or Tuesday" of this week. They didn't. In the meantime, I have had to request a defer payment from my bank, and if it isn't paid in two weeks, I have to make another payment on a car I no longer own, as well as my new car. Now, Central Kia's general sales manager will not return my calls. I think the BBB is useless in resolving issues. Does anyone know of another consumer group that might apply a little pressure to Central Kia? BTW, Central Kia claims they do not know who their district manager is or how to contact their district manager.

  • How can I help save my friend's rescue?

My friend runs a feline rescue, incorporated by the state and has the approval of the town vet and the health inspector. She harbors and resocializes abandoned and abused animals. The small town where she lives has "amended" an ordinance to limit houehold animals to three, removing a provision for kennels. They now say she must close her rescue because the new ordinance is "retroactive". All this came up because the animal control officer saw cats on her front porch (not her animals) and cited her.

Who can I contact (animal friendly) that will help her?

  • GM CEO Rick Wagoner to step down at White House request?

What right does the GOVERNMENT have to request the resignation of an employee in the private sector? I realize the government is providing loans to the auto industry. They did it before with Chrysler. But, it is still a business. This man has been with the company since he was 21 years old; he is now 56.

  • Obama names AIG director to tax task force?

    Wtf is that? Strange bedfellows?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- One of the people named this week to President Obama's new Task Force on Tax Reform is a member of the AIG board of directors.

Martin Feldstein, a professor of economics at Harvard University, has been on the board of American International Group since 1988. He also was a prominent economic adviser to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

Asked about the AIG connection, a senior administration official said Friday that the White House declined to comment on the story.

"The task force's job description is to propose ways to simplify the tax code, reduce tax evasion, close loopholes and make changes in corporate tax breaks."

When I hired people, I seldom (read: never) hired someone who had caused me "outrage".

How outraged could Obama have been?

  • Can someone explain this, please?

This is not sarcasm. I saw this ad on the Yahoo homepage:

Homeowners: Fixed rates dropped. $200,000 for only $1,074/mo. Fixed. No SSN required. LendingTree® Quickmatch

Can anyone explain to me how, under any circumstances, it is possible to establish a homeowners mortgage in this country without even having a Social Security number?

Living as we do, where even your car insurance payments are influenced by your credit rating (based on your SSN), how can any lending agency offer credit to non-citizens, who would seem have no SSN and to be non-taxpaying (Don't you have to have a SSN to pay income tax?)?

Is it any wonder our lending agencies are belly-up?

So how does bailing them out help us, the taxpayers of this country?

Really, is there an explanation how and why lending agencies can make loans like this, especially right now?

  • Just wondering what your views on this story would be?

    http://www.lufkindailynews.com/news/content/news/s...

This story was covered, October 7, 2008, in the Lufkin Daily News (Lufkin, TX) I received a heads up about it from a friend who emailed me the link and this statement: "I was on duty with the Army in Panama a few months after 'Just Cause'. I was talking with a local bar owner who told be that if you were at a bar or in public & you told a joke about Noriega or any of his cronies in the Government, the police would drive out & question you. Something to think about."

What do you all think about Obama's "campaign police"?

  • Business taking advantage of hurricane victims?

My daughter, on the Tx coast, was without power for 19 days, from Sept. 11 through Sept 30. Now Centerpoint sends her an electric bill for $215.00, claiming she used only 100 kilowatt hours of power LESS in those 19 days without power than she used in all of August.(anyone know what August in Tx is like?). This on top of over $700 she spent in gasoline to keep a generator going for those 19 days. She contacted Centerpoint and they essentially blew her off saying "Well, that's what your meter read".

I think Centerpoint is trying to recoup their losses in extra men and man hours to restore all this power, and I seriously doubt my daughter is the only one getting bills like this. People who are struggling to rebuild and continue on after Ike do not need this added (and I think fabricated) expense. To whom or to what regulatory agency can we complain? .What can we do?

  • Obama's campaign includes his African American Religious Leadership Committee?

Does his campaign also include leadership committees for the religions of other races? Does he have a Caucasian Religious Leadership Committee? Does he have a Jewish Religious Leadership Committee?

    Is religion a racial characteristic?

Not being sarcastic here. I would appreciate honest answers. When I googled other candidates names for "religious leadership campaign committees" only Obama's came up.

When I googled Obama's campaign for Jewish and/or caucasian leadership committees, only the African American committee came up.

Why would he have a committee for one and no other?

  • Does anyone recognize these symptoms?

Been a nurse 35 years but can't diagnose myself.

Condition onset: App 6 years ago

    Frequency:Sporatic. 2nd episode 2 years,2 months after the 1st; then19 months until 3rd; then 3 within 10 months;then none for 17 months, then now.

Symptoms: Begins feeling like a sprain in the wrist; soreness. Usually left wrist; has been right side; once was both sides at the same time.

Progression: Quickly becomes aching, burning pain in wrist, palm and fingers. Fingers feel numb and tingly and "fat" (like when your hand "goes asleep").Aching feeling can extend up forearm to elbow (but not the numbness).

Mobility limitations/paralysis:Yes & no. Hand "feels" like it is too swollen to move fingers.Try to make fist; hand won't close. Can close it with the other hand. Can wiggle fingers.

Visible changes: None. No swelling. No color change. No mottling.

    Level of pain:10

Duration:Several hrs then sore a day or two

My doctor just shrugs his shoulders. Please, can you help me put a name to this?

  • I have a question for Obama's supporters.....?

    Please read:

Obama sent Austan Goolsbee to assure the Canadian Consulate General that any speeches Obama gave negative to NAFTA would be only "political posturing". Obama denied it. New York Times and other papers carried the report. The NY Times printed the memo generated by the meeting. The Canadian government admits the meeting took place.

    Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/04/us/politics/04na...

Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas' top political adviser, says they hope Obama wins the election. Obama called Hamas a "terrorist organization" that should remain isolated until it renounces violence and recognizes Israel. Yousuf chalked up Obama's statements to political posturing. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=61631

I oppose Obama; you all know. Don't you find it in the least unsettling that the explanation "political posturing" appears in both instances? Does it not follow that since one is proven to come from Obama, both very well did?

  • Since Obama has denounced Wright's comments, will his supporters expect him to find another church, now?

The Rev. Otis Moss III, who is replacing Wright when he retires June 1, defended Wright's comments. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080404/ap_on_el_pr/ob...

So it sounds like he embraces the same views as Wright, does it not? If Obama denounced Wright's statements, how can he continue to be a part of that church if he doesn't truly feel the same way as Wright and now Moss?

Obama supporters, I really want to know where you are on this. Knowing that Moss supports and defends the statements that you publicly denounced, could you continue to be affiliated with it, if you were Obama? I am really struggling to understand how an avowed Christian belief could allow you to remain, and worship, in an environment like that.

  • Are we really so shallow?

In "news", researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society have found that Obama is related to Brad Pitt and Clinton to Angelina Jolie. Do we care? Why aren't people spending as much time and effort to ferret out the unsavory facts about these people, rather than presenting fluff like this? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080325/ap_on_el_pr/ca...

  • These are the words of the man who mentored Obama. Is this the beliefs we want our President to follow?

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's "friend and mentor" and a member of Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee in a 2003 sermon, said blacks should condemn the United States.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

He also gave a sermon in December COMPARING OBAMA TO JESUS, promoting his candidacy and playing down Clinton.

Oh, no, no. "God damn America"? This from the man Obama calls his spiritual leader. Infuriating that those who would damn America are those who so enjoy the freedom to say things like that.

With this influence, can this man possibly be fit to run our nation?

  • Do you believe the denouncement by Obama regarding his minister's 9/11 comments?

I find it strange and very suspicious that Obama is only now finding that the bizarre comments by his minister, friend and mentor (his words) about 9/11 being retribution from God against whites and Jews might actually be ill-conceived, racial rantings. That he now, in light of his campaign, feels he has to show his disapproval is insulting to our intelligence, and it angers me. He had a very long time before now to be offended by those statements. Does anyone else feel offended by this strategy of his?
