What does this mean? It's really contradictory, is it a translation error or something else entirely?

Okay, this IS in the right section, it's page from a manga. The manga is Ayu Mayu, and here's the link.

Meek and bold are antonyms, aren't they?

Is it supposed to be like an oxymoron or paradox or something, or is it just a screw-up in translation? (I doubt it)

Please help, I'm confuzzled.

    Its a- iffy translation, yes. Technically, what it is supposed to state is that she is shy and cute, but not easily scared. This can be expressed easily in Japanese, but is kinda hard to get across in English.
