Both Republicans And Dems in Congress have put over 8000 Earmarks in Spending Bills. Would Pres. Obama.....?

Be breaking his campaign promise if he signs this into law?

Again, Republican and Democrats in Congress are guilty of this. So if The President signs this into law, does he go against what he said about not allowing earmarks to pass on his desk? He did say he would veto such legislation.

Update:

Lets be real, both parties are guilty of earmarks and Obama said he'd put a stop to it.

Update 2:

Olen Black, good answer! I hope even supporters of him can hold him accountable. It hasn't gone to his desk yet, but this is a great oppertunity to prove to us that he means what he says.

Yes, but don't sound so surprised. He's already broken several campaign promises

Source(s): (such as giving all bills a 5 day window to review)

Of course he would be breaking yet ANOTHER campaign promise

He has lied so much and so often about what he would do, who he knew and when he knew, that this really can't come asa a surprise to anyone.

It is sad too, becasue so many people really believed that this man was going to change the way things are done in Washington, and now they see that was all just to get the votes. He is in for 4 years and does not need the votes anymore. It will be interesting to see what he says in a re=election bid.

Yes he would be, president Obama need a special team to go over all the spending bills presented to him to make sure there is no wasteful Earmarks in them before he signs any spending bill...

well, he will have to wait awhile. the senate has kicked the bill back, so it will be more debate. however, i would hope he has the gonads to go ahead and veto it. i looked at some of the earmarks, and they are so silly. 1.8 million for a study on the smell of pig feces? 1.3 million to fix up tiger stadium in Detroit (they tore it down, nothing there to fix)

yea, they really need to clean the bill up first.

Very astute observation - he hasn't broken that promise... yet.

But all signs point to "yes, he will".

And thank you for being fair and mentioning that both sides have stuffed this bill full of earmarks. Even Hannity said that the GOP was guilty of it.

Look. Obama has already broken promises.

What does he have to lose? If (I say WHEN) he signs this budget, it will have NO IMPACT on his popularity. The PEOPLE will still support him.

And there is a simple explanation.

Only his opponents know what he promised! His supporters only know that he is not Bush... that he is not a Republican!

This election was based on HATE, not issues. The proof is in the pudding!!!

Have they carried out analyze on the long term consequences on ethanol run automobiles? i comprehend people who artwork for our state and force Ford Tauruses which settle for ethanol. they are instructed by employing the state they ought to positioned ethanol into the automobiles (even even with the undeniable fact that they'd use gasoline). take a glance on the maintenance and restore charges of those automobiles on the grounds that they began employing ethanol! spectacular! BTW: Our states are paying those maintanence and restore charges. to no longer point out those the place the engines in simple terms blow up, then the State has to pass and purchase yet another motor vehicle.

The Omnibus has been a bill they've been trying to pass for years...some minor changes I'm sure -- and it gets shot down every time they vote on it.

If it passes -- they should all be impeached...lets start anew.
