I leased a car 10 years ago, 3 years into the lease...?

my husband lost his job and the car was repossesed, it was charged off, now 7 years later they are putting it on my credit as $7,300 charge off like its a new charge off and it's showing now that they only charged off $1,100 in the beginning that's not how it was originally, it origanally said just 'charge off' now that my credit was in the 'good' category this is ruining it, can they do this?

OK, lets see you leased the vehicle in 1999 and defaulted in 2002 so considering per the Fair Credit Reporting Act (Federal law) derogatory accounts can only show on your credit for 7-years from the date of first default which works out to 7-years and 180-days. They are actually within their rights to list this account on your credit but only until the 7.5 years time frame runs out then it must be removed.
