Did the very Republicans that added 40% of the earmarks on the recent bill decry the Dems for spending?
WASHINGTON – A once bipartisan bill to fund the government is limping out of Congress, dismissed by the White House as a vestige of the Bush administration and derided by Republicans as an example of the Democrats' reckless spending.
Uh, I think some responders need to rethink that 60 is greater than 40 thing considering the actual number of Dems and Repubs in congress today.

LET'S WAKE UP and leave behind our apathy and ignorance! Do not allow the corrupt politicians to take advantage of our gullibility and be suckered into voting for their continued assault on our wallets! They are vampires and no amount of our blood will ever suffice to quench their never ending appetite for our tax dollars which they will squander by living high on the hog on our dime, replenishing the coffers of the Mafia aka labor unions, and special interest groups!
Without accountability they will keep promising rose gardens but deliver only thorny patches! Stop enabling these leeches and facilitating their rape of our wallets!
FIGHT BACK! MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE!! THEY HAVE TO LEARN THAT THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING THEIR PROMISES!

Absolutely. That is why I am so angry with them. You see, I am a Conservative. I realize this is a bill that was written last year, before the current crisis but that is no excuse to pass it now. The House should not have passed it and now the Senate should reject it back to the House. I strongly recommend that they simply dispose of it and leave the Federal Budget as is. They can do this with continuing resolutions.
The effect would be to simply keep the Federal Budget at its current levels rather than increase spending on everything by around 8% was well as pay for all those earmarks.
I implore everyone to contact your senator and insist they reject this bill and put the Federal Government on the same diet we are now on. The days of ever increasing budgets are over.
Stick a fork in this bill.

Why the hell do people keep acting as if there is a difference between the two major political parties? You brought up that Republicans added 40% of the earmakrs in the recent bill. What does that tell you?
How many politics "fans" started out as wrestling fans? This isn't a game to anyone but the powers that be that fool us all into thinking like such fools.

An attempt to remove just one of those earmarks-the one pertaining to the "odor control" of pig farms-was met with resistance by both parties in Congress. With that in mind, would it be effective use of the Congress's time (or Obama's) to hash out every detail?
I think 2010 at the voting booth is the time to get rid of the earmarking lifers in Congress. Not that my own Representatives are any better:
On the list are my own Senators who I just emailed about something they did just today that is not even being mentioned in the news. My email:
"Senator Boxer/Fienstien
Once more I have seen how "Business biased" you are with you vote to table E-Varify. Heaven forbid that legal citizens of California get jobs and "hurt" the employers of criminal immigrants with having to pay living wages for another 5 years.
A "Yes" vote to table Amendment #604 is a vote against the extension of E-Verify for 5 years. So far you voted for Bush's TARP bill with no oversight and all those earmarks. Then you accepted your automatic annual pay raise. And now you table the E-Verify for 5 years so legal California voters have to suffer."
From the source by Poster:
"Congress also awarded itself a 10 percent increase in its own budget, bringing it to $4.4 billion. "

Republican amendments and deletions were shot down by Pelosi and Reid. Those that had earmarks had better not be the ones complaining about them.
This bill was not a bill intended to reach Bush's desk as he said he would veto it. It was held back and worked on with the intent that Obama would be signing. That makes it his bill.

Republicans communicate plenty some lot of issues that they understand will attraction to their base. Their strikes besides the undeniable fact that are in many cases somewhat diverse from their communicate. Their outcomes are even worse. it is the reason Republicans are criticized so heavily for his or her blatant hypocrisy.

From what I understand...yes.
However, the ones who are doing their jobs are saying something about it. Are you confused into thinking that like YOU....we don't call a spade a spade? Get a grip, Chi Guy...our government is taking us for a ride. We can sit and bit ch along party lines all day long...but two wrongs never made a right. ANY earmarks are a problem. Obama vowed NONE of them. He doesn't care. He is letting Pelosi walk all over him. And the Reps that did this....
We have a solution...they don't get re-elected. Can't say the same on the other side...given that Princess Pelosi hasn't budged in a million years.
