Recommend a decent digital camera?

Any Canon digital camera is your better choice. The Canon SD1100 is a good choice.

It's a lot cheaper than it's successor for the 2009 line, the SD1200. (i'm not sure i should reccommend this one!) The SD1200 is around $250, yes, it is a bit more pricey than the SD1100, but if looks is a concern, the colors for this one are so much more attractive...10Mp, waterproof up to (i wanna say 10 feet? not sure) and the images will be stellar. I understand if you'd be reluctant to show your son the camera online...the colors are so tempting!

I recommend a Canon camera. You may be able to find a used digital canon camera at a very good price. I have an old Canon Powershot A50 that I bought in 2000, it goes for about $5 on ebay now. It has less megapixels than my other digital cameras (not including the cameraphone lol), but it takes great pictures, much better than the $20 digital cameras at Walmart that I got the kids for Christmas. If you're looking for quality at a good price, definitely buy used.

Canon A470 good choice. Should be under $100-, and Canon doesn't make junk even under $100-.

get the canon sd1100, check amazon site for it. I bought one for my daughter for christmas and liked it so much i just bought myself one as well. You can buy one for about 150 on amazon with no tax and free shipping.

The camera itself comes in several colors, and i really like the rechargeable battery that it comes with, no more expensive batteries to buy for a few years!
