Good specs for a video editing/processing pc?
What are some recommended specs for a pc that will run the latest Adobe suite smoothly? Also something that is faster then 12 hours with converting about 5.5 hours of video to a standard mpeg2 dvd-5.
My current pc is 6 years old, and the motherboard was old at the time when I built it. The new hd videos on youtube are choppy on this pc. Its time to kill it and get a new one.
Looking for something that can handle uncompressed video, and a good video card.

I just recently purchased a new computer and I also process videos. I'm converting all my old VHS tapes to DVD's. I have a HP Computer that has a quad core processor. 2.5GHZ, I have 4 gigs of ram, 750 gig hard drive and a NVIDIA 9500 video card with 512 megs of ram. It processes and converts video very quickly. It can processed a two hour video from a mpg file to a dvd in less than an hour.

Quad cores are great for video editing. I would suggest grabbing a Q6600, a good aftermarket cooler, and overclocking it. Those increase easily from 2.4GHz to 3.2GHz on air cooling.
As for a video card, I'm not sure what people use for video editing. Your best bet would be to look around, Google is your friend. Another good website is www.tomshardware.com
