What does God look like?

When you actually pray, do you actually experience God? Is god blue or red? Do you hear organ music? Do you actually see an old man and a beard? Or a turban? Or do you feel a presence? or love? How do you know this is God? In all seriousness, what do you experience when you pray to God? Do you see a person or do you sense something indefinable? Or do you just mumble words? Is there anything there at all? Come on be honest! Forget about religion, this question's about experiencing God. Simple comments, no ranters please! I'm not interested in your beliefs, just your experience of God.

Update:

Rockchic – Oh!

CWGK – er... so you mean nothing?

Siecr@zy – thanks for your direct reply.

Bianca – aha so you see michael jackson when you pray. Lol!

Lord butters II – I like it, I like it - the imaginary part.

Jared – So he looks like nothing, then?

Unrockmys – I’m flattered !

Zac – and where does he where it?

Maid Angela – so your ansa is you don’t experience anything?

Xplore – thanks for sincere answer.

Max – when I pray I don’t see you, or me or anyone else for that matter.

Smooth – like it.

Gaytheistbuddha – you really see that!? You need your head examined!

WHAT IDEAS YOU ALL HAVE!

Bumblebee – at last a proper answer, thanx

B_steel – I'm not interested in your beliefs. I want to hear your EXPERIENCE people!

Jesus – I AM asking you what you experience. Not what you think other people experience. so your answer is, you don’t know. Well that’s honest.

Corgi –thankx for your straight ansa.

Update 2:

Just me – and do you have an indescribable experience?

Mazesh – no property at all? But you’re still here, right? You’re not unconscious. So there must be some property, no? Or its it all gone?

Tasia – wow. thanks for sharing. I sometimes get a bright quality but no pictures.

Update 3:

GOD - what are you doing here? go back to where you belong!

Update 4:

Just me - that's all ideology what you're saying. I just asked you what you experience when you pray. Not what you think.

Update 5:

Anonymous – so what do you experience then if you can’t see him? How do you know he’s here?

Whatnext – You experience that? I don’t believe you!

SOME PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEIR IDEAS AND THEIR EXPERIENCES. If I read something in a book, that’s an idea but it’s not my experience. If I read a book about Australia or heaven, that’s an idea – it’s not my exerience – I haven’t really been there.

Update 6:

Whatnext - wow.

he has no physical property...i would say it would be a bit hard to go from our perception and say he's like this or that. Just like it would be difficult for someone who lives in a 2-D world to take his/her mind off the 2 dimensional world and imagine what a third dimension would be like, to characterize god with a physical characteristics that we only know from this earth would be a bit problematic. I hope this helps!

He is so beautiful, more than any words could ever describe.

There is a description of Yeshua in the Bible in Genesis 49:12:

"His eyes are darker than wine,

And his teeth whiter than milk." New King James Version

(According to Strongs, Shiloh means tranquil, also an epithet of the Messiah).

Isaiah says of Him in chapter 53:2:

"when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him"

YHWH (translated in the King James Bible as the LORD), told Moses that He was not allowed to see His face.

So I stand with my earlier comment, that His beauty and loveliness cannot be compared to anything else. He is so wonderful, I love Him.

    Agape love!

Yes, blackhol...I experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. There's no law against this is there? By the grace of Yeshua, anyone can know how great He is.

One day when I was 5 yrs old, I was playing at the playground and singing the song "Oh How I Love Jesus" I was just singing with all my little heart. Then I felt very very bright inside of me.Like a white light came on. Then the sky got very bright.Like the sun coming from behind a cloud, but it was different somehow. So I looked up in the sky and there was the huge face of a man. He was VERY VERY BRIGHT! and I could only look at him for a second. I looked away to my left in the sky and there was the Huge face of Jesus smiling at me. I knew it was Jesus instantly. I smiled back at him and then his smile got even brighter. I dared not look at the other man He was so BRIGHT.. Then Jesus stretched out his arms and grabbed some of the white fluffy clouds and pulled them over his face and they disappeared..I was with a friend that day and she saw them to.

The painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel painted by Michael Angelo is what the very bright man looked like.

When I pray I don't usually see anything, but a few days ago when i was praying about some personal problems, I imagined myself on a mountain path I was struggling to keep up with Jesus.. Then I realized that I was not carrying my cross,I told Jesus that I would take up my cross and follow him; when I said that in my prayer, I had a vision of Jesus turning around and offering me his hand to help me on the path. Tears immidiantely flooded my eyes and I was filled with Joy and the Holy Spirit.

Hope that is what you wanted to know.

    God bless.

.: perfect Bliss is Brahman. perfect Peace is of the Self. That on my own exists and is unsleeping. a similar end is arrived at: (a) judged metaphysically, and (b) inferred via Bhakti Marga (direction of Devotion). We pray to God for Bliss and get carry of it via Grace. The bestower of bliss could desire to be Bliss itself and additionally infinite. hence, Iswara is the internal maximum God of infinite means and bliss. Brahman is Bliss, impersonal and absolute. The finite egos, deriving their source from Brahman and then Iswara, are of their non secular nature bliss basically. Biologically, an organism applications by way of fact such applications are attended with happiness. that's excitement that facilitates our advance; meals, exercising, relax, and gregarious characteristics. The psychology (and metaphysics) of delight is perhaps this; Our nature is commonly one, comprehensive, completely satisfied. Take this as a likely hypothesis. introduction is via the comprehensive Godhead breaking into God and Nature (maya or prakriti). This maya is of two areas: (para) - the helping essence and (apara) the 5 factors, strategies, mind, and ego (eightfold). Ego’s perfection is unexpectedly broken at a element and a want is felt giving upward thrust to a want to get something or do something. while that want is cured via the fulfilment of that want, the ego is satisfied and the unique perfection is restored. hence happiness may well be mentioned to be our organic subject or nature. excitement and soreness are relative and communicate with our finite state, with progression via delight of want. If relative progression is stopped and the soul merges into Brahman - of the character of perfect peace - that soul ceases to have relative, temporary excitement and enjoys perfect peace - Bliss. hence Self-Realisation is Bliss; that's determining the Self by way of fact the infinite non secular eye (jnana dristi) and not clairvoyance; this is the utmost self-renounce. Samsara (the international-cycle) is sorrow.

When i Pray it is just like thinking something in my head, but directing it to someone, and that is God. No one knows what God looks like but in the Bible he said that we (humans) are made in the image of him. And no, you do not see him obviously and you can feel him speaking back. I know that God it there because i pray and as God for things and he gives them to me and also replys.

We are made in the image and likeness of God. I believe that this should be construed to mean that we have similar unique attributes to create and to act with virtue and compassion.

If we were to be in God's full glory, we'd be dead.. because we are contaminated with sin.

Therefore, spiritually God has given us the Holy Spirit to renew us inwardly.

1st.. He gets rid of sin. <-- easy part.

2nd.. He replaces sin with new desires. All done with the Holy Spirit. We don't control this... God does. This is a part of feeling Him inside of us spiritually. - We start hating the things we once loved (secular music, sex-drugs-rock&roll, etc.). We start loving the things we once hated, (going to church, reading the bible, hanging out with other christians).

3rd.. He starts to get rid of old selves & our old character <-- this is the hard part that christians go through. This is the thing that replaces ourselves with the character of JESUS so that we can enter heaven. This is a continual change that happens till we reach complete righteousness of God.. and deleted self-righteousness.

These are things all people who are fully aware of God's presence feel.

    *the experience is almost undescribable*

The best part is at the beginning of transformation.. and then it will get better when we die to be with Jesus. This is why the bible says.. to die is to gain. Because we are dying to the flesh - earthly bodies & now are going to be living in spirit - in heaven for eternity. It will be more amazing when we get to live there. ;D

I pray to icons that hold Jesus, Mother Mary, etc....it's simpler.

And for everyone god is something else, depending upon his/her experience in life. And mostly private. Cheers
