There is no single answer to your question.

I will be preforming a ceremony this year and the groom is Eastern Orthodox, I am not sure which country he is from but he will be wearing the wedding band on his right hand for cultural reasons.

When my mother lost her husband, after a year she wore her wedding ring on the right hand.

My sister now wears my mom's wedding ring on her right hand since my mom passed.

In German tradition, the engagement ring (a plain gold band wore by the man and woman both) is worn on the right hand ring finger. When they are married, the rings are put on the left hand ring finger.

I wear my bridal set on my right hand - we're in Canada, but following Eastern European tradition.

Here's the explanation of why -

"A traditional reason to wear the wedding ring on the right hand stems from Roman custom. The Latin word for left is "sinister", which in addition to this sense also has the same senses as the English word. The Latin word for right is "dexter", a word that evolved into "dexterity". Hence, the left hand had a negative connotation and the right a good one." (wikipedia)

On the right hand finger? I thought that means you're single and proud...

I read that the ancient Egyptians thought that there was a vein connecting the left ring finger to the heart. That's why we wear them on the left hand.

Widows often move their weddingband and engagement rings to the right hand.

in western culture that means nothing. it only means they're married or engaged if the ring is on the left ring finger.

either means it's a "right hand ring" (the whole "I'm single, don't need a man to buy me a ring" blah, blah blah) or it means that it's too big for your left ring finger and you haven't gotten it re-sized yet. lol

I thought that's where a promise ring went.
