Should the religion of geometry be labeled a cult?

I KNOW! I remember when I was back in school, my maths teacher would be up the front there, thumping his chest and preaching his fals Dogma such as "The square of the hypoteneuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides" and all that stuff.

Oh REALLY, Mr. Mcmanus...so it's just MAGICALLY the same, is it? It just HAPPENED to be like that??? Can you prove it?

I was the only one brave enough to question him. And was given an F on my report card, which proves this cult has brainwashed the entire education system in order to victimise people like me.

First off, evolution and gravity are not cults. A cult is a group devoted to the attatchment to, or extravagant admiration for, a person, principle or lifestyle, especially when regarded as a fad.

Evolution is change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms from one generation to the next. These changes are caused by a combination of three main processes: variation, reproduction, and selection.

Gravitation is a natural phenomenon by which objects with mass attract one another.

Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, change, and related topics of pattern and form. Mathematicians seek out patterns found in numbers, space, natural science, computers, imaginary abstractions, or elsewhere.

Evolution isn't a "cult", because a cult is a twist on Christianity, and evolution totally denies God and Jesus.

Gravity isn't a religion.

Math isn't a religion.

You're just deeply disturbed or something, but I'm just not exactly sure what it was that has disrupted your thought processes and synapses from firing properly.

Mathematics is not a cult. Get a dictionary for crying out loud. Or, maybe you should carry one if the problem stems from others...

I've never taken geomethry but Da Vinci was a great mathematician and since he was also anti-Catholic, I'd say so if that's any indication :-)

I guess since religious folks have replaced the word religion with "personal relationship with god" they have to reassign religion a new meaning no?
