Ya i don't understand how people get so confused by this. Its very simple. BEST 5 CARDS PLAY. Simple as that. If there is 4 of a kind on the board and your card is higher than the last card on the board or your opponent YOU WIN.

A 'kicker' is just the term used for the off card when you hit a pair in Holdem. For example, say the board is K 9 7 2 3. One player has KJ and the other player has K4. The player with KJ would win the hand, since his kicker is a J, and his best 5 card hand would be KKJ97, whereas the other player's best 5 card hand would be KK9743.

Also, a kicker doesn't have to be the low card. Say the board is J 9 8 4 2. One player has AJ, and the other player has KJ. The player with AJ wins because his kicker is an ace, which beats a king.

    Good luck and have fun.

There are too many types of poker to give an example. You have to mentions specific games. Kickers come into play in almost all types, though. Simple example from Texas Holdem:

You have A4 and the board comes something like A39. You bet and someone raises. Chances are they not only have an Ace, they also have a higher second card or kicker. Playing weak second cards is one of the worst things you can do in HoldEm.

basically what u need to know is its the best possible 5 card hand, so if its texas holdem out of the 5 board cards and 2 cards in your hand itts the best 5 cards that is your hand.

If flop is 443 then the turn is a 10 river is ajack. If you have ace 4 u have trip 4s ace jack thats your best 5 card hand. Say your opponent has king 4 he would have trips 4s with a king and a jack

Soso your 444ace jack is better than 444kj

    get it? got it? good

If your "kicker" is going to be in your best 5 cards, then it plays.
