jeep wrangler, brake pad / rotor replacement and labor cost?

When i apply my brakes, they make a squeaking noise, and as i come closer to a complete stop...i can feel grinding.

I bvelieve that im in need of new brake pads, and from the grinding sounds, probably new rotors, too...

Im looking to know if anyone can give me an estimate or a good guess, as to how much it would cost for the new pads/rotors and the labor? Labor im sure depends where you go.....im just looking for some ideas?????

Grizzly , have you lost your mind out there on a trail somewhere ,,,lol

Pads and Rotors are not to expensive nor are they hard to install ... Ask a friend or someone you know that knows how to change them to help you learn how ... My wife changes all of them on her own jeep ,an 89 YJ , and i change the ones on my 98 TJ... We also have 2 CJ's that we own and take care of ... I'm not sure why he thought owning a jeep is anything but fun instead of expensive ... Even if you own one of the newer jeeps they can't be that much more ... And it is pads in the front , not shoes.. Brake shoe's go on the back with drums ... Listen to the mechanic who know's what he's talking about .. He was right on the mark with time and the money ....

    Call an auto parts store!

    Pads are $20

    rotors are $15-$60 each

Labor starts around $80 an hour

2 hour job at a shop.

For a jeep wrangler more than like $300.00 to $325.00 for labor. Pads are a pain to install , rotors are are definitely need. That grinding can not be good...If you love your Jeep get shoes for both front and rear and get new rotors as well.

Can't really tell you about labor costs, But if you replace them soon you might not have to replace rotors. Squeaking is when the pads are ALMOST gone and that's when you need to replace them, the grinding is metal on metal and will ruin your rotors quick. I would suggest going to a mechanic as soon as possible and changing them out.

i live in the Middle East. Bought a set of front Mopar brand brake pads 57 dollars. (original JEEP parts). Had an oil filter and oil change at same time. All Mopar brand. Total cost for labor here in wonderland 27 US dollars.

Took about 100 minutes for them to complete the job. Sat in 120 F heat under a tree in a tiny dirty shop.

Bought the worker who wore flip flops...some water and juice. As he is paid very low wages..maybe 200 US a month. Good Times in Wonderland.

I would go to the Auto Parts Store and spend $20.00 on a manual for your Jeep, Know the make, model and year and get the book. It will show you what needs to be done so you could if you wanted, do it for yourself. That manual will tell you everything you will ever need to know about your Jeep that might need fixing and save you many hundreds of dollars over the time you own it. I have saved over 4000 dollars over the years by using the information in these books.

good brake pads around 25 dollars rotors around 60-80 just for 1 rotor. labor depends on how much they want to screw ya over. why don't you buy the parts and do it your self it's realy not that hard.
