Could Christian users answer me some questions?
Ok so i consider myself an Athiest because there are simply too many discepencies in the Christian reigion, or in any religion for that matter, for it to be true.
1. If the Bible is the truth, why does it miss out the dinosaurs. There iks archeological evidence supporting their existance.
2. Why is Jesus portrayed as a white man, when he would have been Middle Eastern, if he had existed?
3.If you're God exists, why does he allow such cruelty in the world
Why did he sit back while great human injustices surpassed (e.g. holocaust, slave trade)
Why does he allow innocent children to starve, or innocent people to be murdered in the street?
Do your prayers ever come true?
Thank you
Do you follow a religion because you simply need something to believe in?
Maria: do you honestly think you're getting to me?

1) I believe that dinosaurs did exist. This is not out of harmony with the Bible. I'm not a creationist because the Bible does not teach that the earth was made in 6 days of 24 hours each. Neither does it rule out the existence of dinosaurs.
Some of the older translations of the Bible at times use the word “dragons” to translate the Hebrew tan‧ni‧nim′ (“sea monsters,” NW). (Ps. 74:13; 148:7; Isa. 27:1, Authorized Version) The term “dragon” (Greek, dra′kon) is found in the Christian Greek Scriptures. It has been suggested as possible that, rather than having a purely mythical source, this expression may originally have been applied to enormous creatures such as the dinosaurs, taking on mythical tones only after these mammoth creatures had long disappeared. Interestingly, many of the mythical depictions of the “dragon” strongly resemble certain types within the family of huge reptilian creatures that includes the dinosaur.
2) Jesus is not portrayed as a white man in the Bible. He was born Hebrew. (Luke 3:23-28) Some churches and communities choose to portray him in that way. The Bible, however, does not focus attention on Jesus’ appearance. Rather, Jehovah saw fit to reveal something far more significant: the kind of person Jesus was.
3) When Satan led Adam and Eve into disobeying Jehovah, an important question was raised. Satan did not call into question Jehovah’s power. Even Satan knows that there is no limit to Jehovah’s power. Rather, Satan questioned Jehovah’s right to rule. By calling God a liar who withholds good from his subjects, Satan charged that Jehovah is a bad ruler. (Genesis 3:2-5) Satan implied that mankind would be better off without God’s rulership. This was an attack on Jehovah’s sovereignty, his right to rule.
An illustration: Imagine that a teacher is telling his students how to solve a difficult problem. A clever but rebellious student claims that the teacher’s way of solving the problem is wrong. Implying that the teacher is not capable, this rebel insists that he knows a much better way to solve the problem. Some students think that he is right, and they also become rebellious. What should the teacher do? If he throws the rebels out of the class, what will be the effect on the other students? Will they not believe that their fellow student and those who joined him are right? All the other students in the class might lose respect for the teacher, thinking that he is afraid of being proved wrong. But suppose that the teacher allows the rebel to show the class how he would solve the problem.
Jehovah has done something similar to what the teacher does. Remember that the rebels in Eden were not the only ones involved. Millions of angels were watching. (Job 38:7; Daniel 7:10) How Jehovah handled the rebellion would greatly affect all those angels and eventually all intelligent creation. So, what has Jehovah done? He has allowed Satan to show how he would rule mankind. God has also allowed humans to govern themselves under Satan’s guidance.
The teacher in our illustration knows that the rebel and the students on his side are wrong. But he also knows that allowing them the opportunity to try to prove their point will benefit the whole class. When the rebels fail, all honest students will see that the teacher is the only one qualified to lead the class. They will understand why the teacher thereafter removes any rebels from the class. Similarly, Jehovah knows that all honesthearted humans and angels will benefit from seeing that Satan and his fellow rebels have failed and that humans cannot govern themselves. Like Jeremiah of old, they will learn this vital truth: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23.
4) Yes. Some answers are quick and obvious. Others are harder to dicsern or take more time. 1 John 5:14 says "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us." So the prayers must be in harmony with God's will. He does not answer prayers that are not in harmony with his purpose and standards. What true Christians ask for are things that will enable us to serve Him better, which truly covers a wide array of topics.
I do not follow a religion simply because I need something to believe in. The universe and the planet we live on are so amazing, I decided to research if I could get to know the person who obviously designed it. I found the Bible to be accurate (both historically and in harmony with proven science), contain candor and honesty, improve my life and health, and contain remarkable internal harmony to be written over a long time period with some 40 different writers. The Bible clearly has a theme, which is 'the vindication of God's right to rule by means of God's Kingdom.'

1. If the Bible is the truth and the way Christians interpret it is the truth then most the world is pretty much damned to "hell" apparently...also apparently some kind of monster thing is mentioned somewhere but that is all from interpretation. No dinosaur is clearly mentioned.
2. I guess people back then in Europe wouldn't have known what a Middle Eastern really looked like but today there is no excuse for him to be portrayed as a northern European type! Although in certain parts of the Middle East you do get people with pale colour skin and blue eyes etc not all are dark.
3. Apparently because of free will.....but I'm pretty sure people don't choose to be murdered, or starve or suffer a life threatening illness! Also people say it is because of sin but I thought our punishment was supposed to be "hell"...
4. Some peoples prayers they believe come true but why does God answer peoples prayers for things that aren't really important or that they don't really need but ignore those who are praying for safety, or a cure from an illness! It never made sense to me!
I think Christianity can mess with peoples minds much because it uses horrible, scare tactics!
I wasn't raised religiously at all, and I became Christian for a few months not long ago but I really didn't last long because when I learned the real beliefs of Christianity and all their scare tactics it really put me off that religion! I just can't make myself believe we all deserve to "burn in hell for eternity" for not being perfect when we were created imperfect!
The Bible also is based entirely on interpretation, all of it could be metaphorical of all they know! It's like Christians pick and choose what is literal and what is metaphorical.
Also many Christians refuse to learn that much of Christianity has been changed over the years and some beliefs were adopted from paganism.

I don't follow a religion but, i do believe there is something there and i do believe in God most of the time (i don't pray or go to Church though).
1). I have no idea, i have never read the Bible.
2). I don't see why they say about his colour (if they do)... they don't need to bring colour into it.
3). I sometimes think the same thing "why does God let bad things happen. etc.) But, everything happens for a reason. God doesn't do the bad things... the Devil does (my opinion). Nothing is perfect, it never will be and really can't be. Living in a world where all good things happen would be pretty boring and it's just not realistic. Also, people wouldn't learn to respect things at all. They would rely on God to pick up their pieces.
People learn from mistakes... so maybe that's why bad things happen. After someone has done something bad, usually they regret it... and that's them learning their lesson.
4). That's a good question. But, it's not God who allows this... it's their community really. But, that's why we have Charity's... to help out with it all :)
Also, think about it; those who are starving and don't get much water appreciate life 100 times more than any of us could even imagine. When they get water and food it's a blessing to them....... So, in many ways they are more blessed than we are. We take too many things for granted.
We really never know to be honest. Someone could have made this whole God thing up... and those who are "born again" could be talking to the Devil. But, some people follow different religions .etc. maybe it is something to believe in, maybe they feel it will 'change their life'
But, i believe that if God really was up there and he 'loved' everyone. Then, he wouldn't need the Bible .etc. he would let us live our lives as we wanted, not following a religion or being like everybody else.
My prayers have never yet come true. But, i am sure for many people they do. Real, true believers.
But, yeah sorry to go on :) I believe there is a God but, i live my life the way i want to. like i said he should love me for me... not me trying to be someone i am not. :)
I hope i have helped. X

1. It doesn't leave out the dinosaurs, they would be considered animals in genesis when it talks about creation. Many think that the dinosaurs went extinct around the time of the great flood (Noah's Ark). While he may have taken some on the boat, they died later. Others have a evolutionary view to creation, God created the earth and the potential for evolution among the creatures.
2. Jesus is portrayed as a white man in predominantly caucasion cultures. He has been portrayed many times as being middle easter, especially in that area of the world. People tend to portray him in a way that they can relate to, so pictures usually end up matching race. Most Christians know and believe that Jesus lived in the Middle East, so he would have obviously looked middle eastern.
3. God gave us free will, a very powerful gift. Some people have chosen to take that free will and do evil with it. God did not create these cruelties, people did, people need to be to blame not God. It's too easy for people to hide behind God and make excuses, but they need to be responsible for their own behavior. Without any awareness or knowledge of what could be evil or bad out there we would have no appreciation for the good, that is why there is the potential for bad and we were given free will.
My prayers have come true before, but just because I want something doesn't mean that God is going to give it. He may know a better path for our lives and will do what is better for us, not just what we think he should do.
I follow religion because I truly believe in God. I want to find and explore the greater truths in life. That being said, I don't think any one religion has got it right. If we follow the major basic beliefs that permeate most religions I think we can get an idea of the bigger picture of who God is and how we should live our lives.

Lol...Dinosaurs are mentioned in the bible...they are not called dinosaurs though...it is called a Behemoth in the Book of Job. That is the closest resemblence to a dinosaur there is. The word dinosaur was made up later on.
You are right..Jesus was most likely not a white man with light brown hair and blue eyes....he was more than likely dark because of where he lived and his ancestry on his mother's side. But he is always portrayed as, " white"
2 words....Free Will. When God gave everyone free will...he gave them the will to choose how they wish to live...how they wish to treat others...and how they wish to believe. Even though I am christian...i myself hate free will to a certain extent.
and yes I have had some prayers come true. not all...but some.
Tyrel...You sound like most young ppl who question the bible...because they are looking for answers about christianity..But the more you read the bible...the more confused you may end up being. It honestly has so many contradictions...plus you also must consider that this is a book that was written by men a very very long time ago. These are men who have claimed to have heard God speaking to them...but there is no actual proof.
I have never heard God speak to me..its more of a feeling I get...an undeniable faith that I feel. I have however seen ppl speak in tongues...sometimes its fake..and sometimes its honestly real...you can tell which is which after a while.

Those are acts of the devil. There will always be sin in the world because of the fact that adam and eve ate the fruit. The devil persuaded them to eat it even though it was forbidden by God. While your sitting here asking questions about things like why does God allow innocent children to starve to death? Why not go and help them innocent children who are starving to death? God allows feels suffering as we do. His character in the bible is described as long suffering. Also the bible doesnt really miss out on the dinosaurs. Its just that there were no people around during the dinosaur age to wittness and write about it. The world Dinosaur is not mentioned directly in the bible but the word tanniyn is. Tanniyn is translated a few different ways in our English Bibles; sometimes it’s “sea monster,” sometimes it’s “serpent.” It is most commonly translated “dragon.”

Prayers do get answered by God.
Cruelty is allowed into the world because it is inside of God's will. Same with children starving and innocent people to be murdered.
Question one idk how to answer it.
Jesus did so exist because it said in the bible... and thats as far as im going with this question.
The bible does say that you do need a saviour, no body can live without the word of God.
What Christian's believe is that there is 1 God as in 3 heads. God The Father, God the son (Jesus Christ) and the holy spirit (which is in every Chrisitan believer).

Hi Tyrel
Well first and foremost I follow God and believe in him because I have seen him move in my life many times.
1. The bible DOES indeed talk about dinosaurs. Do your reading hun
2. Jesus is portrayed as a white man by artist that draw him, Not by the bible it self
3.God exists..Who do you think woke you up this morning? Yourself? People have free will and people have choice, If God didn't give us free will then everyone would be forced to worship him and live for him. God has given you the choice weather you want to believe in him or not.
My prayers come true all the time :). I'm not going to say that they always come true because THEY don't.
I know God is real because
1. When I was in the hospital and the Doctor said my lungs would probably collapse he healed my body.
2. When my mother passed he gave me peace. The bible tells us that he will give us peace beyond the earth's understanding :).
3. My dad kicked me out lol and I was HOMELESS for a minute, The only one I could lean on in that time was GOD and he brought me out of that sistuation.
He has done so many things for me I couldn't even begin to tell them all. But you wouldn't probably just chalk them up as a coincidence because you lack faith right now. Atheist believe in science but as a nursing major there are many things that they just can't explain and probably never will be able to explain. I don't NEED something to believe in I choose to believe in the God that puts breath in my body everyday and that has given me chance after chance. I know that if I weere to loose EVERYTHING. Family, Job and Home..Guess who would still be there? GOD. And that's who will be there when you die asking you what hindreded you from believeing in me? From denying the truth. I'm not trying to put u down but that is just my opionion and I hope I helped you understand why this Christain believes in God :)

I don't know why the bible doesn't mention dinosaurs specifically other than he created all the animals and Adam named them.
Nowhere in the bible does it mention the color of Jesus' skin. That is mankind that has portrayed him as such.
God allows cruelty, illness, tragedy etc because suffering is necessary for the christians...preparing them for the future glory in heaven..consider it basic training for eternity.
When people pray, sometimes they pray wrong..pray for things they want or things to go their way when in fact, they should be praying that God's will for them should be done..
For example, I pray to god that my friend doesn't die from cancer..
The intent is thoughtful however it could be possible, that is not God's will or plan for my friend.
In regards to your last question, being a Christian is not a religion, its a way of life...
- Anonymous1 decade ago
I'm an atheist, but I'll take a stab at the Christian PoV:
1.) Dinosaurs are religiously insignificant and therefore there was no need to record their existence in scripture.
2.) Artistic license
3.) If God fixed everyone's problems for us, life wouldn't have much value.
Do my prayers ever come true? Occasionally.
