Tiger fans and others, will Mike Illitch get tired of Dave Dombrowski eating big contracts of disappointments?

Sheffield (and probably Willis) will shuffle away with Illitch's money because of these bloated contracts he gave these bums. Will Mr.Illitch get tired of his money being thrown away or will he continue to let him spend foolishly? I don't like what I've seen in the past two years. The Renteria for Jurrjens trade was a major blunder.I think our owner should fire him.

Update:

Thanks PJ! I think Mark Shapiro is a really good GM for you. At least he didn't unload a truckload of money on Sabbathia and get burned(The Yanks are fools for throwing alot of money at players and get caught with a bum-ala Pavano).Your Tribe is gonna Rock-will definitely see an improvement for you.

Sounds like your Tigers and the Indians are doing the same thing only at opposite ends of the spectrum. Dolan tries his hardest to keep the Indians the lowest paid ball team and let's a Cy Young award winning pitcher walk. I'll have to agree with you on this one and say Mr.Illitch needs to take a good hard look at his management. It's all about the money to these owners anymore and they really don't care about their ball teams. It seems as though they just use them for a nice tax write off. Good luck to the Tigers this year John, I'm sure they'll end up much better than the Indians.

What surprises me is the fact that they released both players, instead of trying to work through things, especially considering the fact that they have to pay them either way. It's not like the Tigers have so much talent that they can push these guys out. It's going to be particularly painful if someone picks them up for the league minimum and they watch them perform on another team.

You look at a team like the Angels with Gary Mathews Jr. Sure the guy's been a disappointment, but they're not going to let him go while they still owe him all that money. He can still contribute in some role to earn that big paycheck.

the whole thing is really Ilitch's fault. The Tigers are always paying out big bucks to players who have had their day instead of building a young team of talented players who will be good for many years. I've never seen a building plan for the Tigers in the last 20 years.

I think we need to give him a couple more years to see if he can recover from off-season 2008. There was no way he could've predicted Willis ending up like this..
