Seniors, what do you think of this email I just received from my aunt?

Dear Cheryl,

I love this plan!

This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President,

Patriotic retirement:

There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force;

pay them $1 million apiece severance with three stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed.

All National financial problems fixed!!!

TOTAL cost $400 Billion

Sincerely,

A Fellow American

Love, Aunt Georgie

Update:

Let me just clarify--this is an email from my aunt, forwarding one that she received. This is a "light-hearted" email forwarded to many.

She didn't mention anything about the senior citizens that really need

a break, and would like just a true cost of living to show up in their

SS and SSI checks. Why do politicians get cost of living raises that

are beneficial, and older seniors who really need a break to get decent

food in their kitchens, buy only cheaper meats and other items loaded

with things bad for us, just to stretch our food budget, because we

don't have enough money coming in to eat well? Why is there an

    unfair balance?

I'm all for getting money to buy a new car, and pay off a mortgage

or buying an economical little house. But there's still the bank issue

that's still unsettled. I heard on the news that some banks want to

send their stimulus checks back, and President Obama says no. It

was issued to them, and they have to keep it. Our nation is broke,

and he doesn't want any money coming back? Is he beyond reason?

I received a similar e-mail so it's not a new concept. It is way too simple to work but in theory a great idea.

    Dear Cheryl P.

Your aunt should be in the Government, showing them what to do, she is wasted sitting at home knitting.

I guess this is supposed to be a joke. Because if you are serious that's just plain lunacy. Not only that it is very much Un-American.

    Too good to be true.

oh, i'm sorry.... these are the same baby boomers that are soon going to absolutely rape the entire social security funds. And we are supposed to what? somehow raise 400 billion additional dollars. Where do you propose that money is going to come from....

o wait i know! increased taxes for the people that are already paying about 30% of their wages into state and federal taxes. Wonderful....

It sounds better than what we have done so far.
