One Piece is the best anime ever?
Why do I always hear people say One Piece is the best anime ever? For those of you that truely thinks that, please list 5 reasons how it's better than Berserk, which is just one of many anime/manga that's better than One Piece. Only answer if you've seen all of the episodes and chapters of both of these animes/manga please. Thank you and have a nice day :]
No I haven't seen Samurai x yet Fade, but I will eventually, and I agree about the Nami and Luffy getting together part lol
I actually agree with you Jessica, I shouldn't have used Berserk, I like Full Metal Alchemist too so I should have used that instead. I only used Berserk because I thought it was as popular as One Piece, since most of my friends like Berserk, but FMA is as popular too right? I think so but not quite sure.
If I'm confusing some people let me just say that I only asked this question to know why people would think One Piece is the best anime ever, I myself am a fan of One Piece but it gets no where near my top favorites so I just wanted to know why people would think so, and I respect everyone's opinion.

One Piece has never been one of my favorite anime or manga, but I think it has a decent story and good protagonists. There are too many similarities between One Piece and Naruto. They're basically the same manga/anime except one has Pirates and the other has Ninja. Luffy and Naruto have WAY too many similarities, in personality, in strengths, and even their weaknesses are similar.
I like Naruto too, I just think that both are highly overrated.
Personally, my favorite anime/manga is Full Metal Alchemist. It's in keeping with the same shonen story we read over and over again, but it has some unique parts as well. Plus it's humorous and very interesting.
Berserk is good too, but if you're going to compare One Piece to something, I don't think it's fair to compare it to Berserk. They're completely different. One is light and fun and the other is a little dark and scary.
People who like Berkserk and people who like One Piece will generally have different manga/anime opinions about other things as well. So it's really not a fair comparison.

Certainly not, but it's definitely overrated by the anime community. It's hard to find anime reviewers or even average people that comment on boards like this that look at a series objectively. One Piece definitely has some horrid aspects and bad arcs, but it also has some amazing aspects as well. The animation in One Piece is not that bad, it's kind of wonky sometimes, but it's overall pretty good. If you meant the art, then that's purely opinion, I personally like it (though it was an acquired taste so I know where you're coming from.) Their body types are just an artistic choice, and Arlong Park is so far from being the best arc in the series that it's not even funny. It's not downhill from there, it's uphill from there. The true problems in One Piece stem from Luffy's lack of character development and the pacing. I think those are the two biggest problems in the series. The pacing is so dreadful that I can't watch just one episode. I have to wait like 2 months for there to be enough episodes that I can marathon them. Also, Luffy hasn't grown up or grown at all as a character despite the drama he's been through. Ridiculous. On the other hand it has some of the best world building I've ever seen. Is it a masterpiece though? Absolutely not, and people that say that need to learn how to look at the series more objectively. Then again, I think people that say it's pure garbage need to look at it objectively as well. It's not garbage or a masterpiece. It's an average series that has amazing potential. I can certainly name off 10 more series that I feel are more overrated than One Piece, but that's part of the problem in the anime community. People can't defend one series without bringing down another. All I will say is that it's certainly not the most overrated anime of all time though it is overrated.

For me:
I think One Piece has maybe the most complex plot of all time. Throughout arcs, you can see things as fluff only to realize that later plays a big role in the story. It's plot twist upon plot twist, and Oda makes it so that the story has hints throughout for the bigger things to come. You see those exaggerated long diagrams for story analysis'? That's One Piece. You literally can't overlook a single part of the story if you want to know what happens... NOT EVEN BACKGROUND CHARACTERS! IF ONE PERSON REMOTELY STICKS OUT, YOU BASICALLY FOUND YOURSELF A NEW KEY MEMBER TO THE PLOT! It can be something small as a tattoo or a list only mentioned once. It can be a typical representation of greed. It could be the person's fighting style. It can even be the stupidly happy-go-lucky persona running the show. When I was re-watching for the hell of it, you realize that you can't even overlook bits of dialogue. Even some dialogue you would deem insignificant(that's not a gag or joke of course) plays a part into foreshadowing the story's later parts. It could even be the name that leads to big reveals. The world is immersing. There are mysteries upon mysteries, when one is solved it just adds questions to a new mystery. I can honestly say that it's probably the best piece of literature of all time. It makes itself an all new encyclopedia. It brings allegories of our world into perspective with bits of satire throughout. It brings up topics using the White Town Tragedy, Fishmen Island, Celestial Dragons, Void Century, the Navy, Doflamingo's ideas of "justice," the Pirate Golden Age, among countless other things. It can make you laugh, cry, and it's not afraid to not take itself seriously. Each person has their struggles, but they go from living a tragedy to a journey. It's not trying to say that the world is messed up, but because it's messed up you have to fight for your right and others. It's a story that's not pin the blame, but look for change. A key reason why there's even more adults than kids reading it is because of it's themes. There are more 50 year olds watching than under 18. It's because you see these characters go through plenty, and they are able to move forward and head towards their dreams. In a society like Japan where being a white-collar worker is the epitome of being as good as it gets, with stress around every corner, they need the reassurance of being able to pursue freedom, to overcome obstacles. It gives people hope for a better future.

I have seen most of the really popular anime's out there, but I have yet to see one that is better than One Piece. It looks very simple at first, but as it progresses it gets way better, and the story becomes very deep. its like a whole new world that does not revolve completely around the main character and it has lots of things happening at the same time. You really can't guess whats going to happen next and once they get into the New World things are less linear and epic. For me, the first 50 episodes in East Blue were entertaining but it was just an introduction and recruitment of the first main characters. Then, after they get to the Grand Line, it gets really good and the story arcs story get more deeper. But to me the real story begins when at the Sabody Archipelago arc. After that the story gets epic but it does take alot of time to watch cuz its really long.

I just want to point out something here. I ve seen samurai X, Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Full Metal alchemist. and HXH. But for me is still nowhere near as good as one piece because the story and plotline is just to unreal and easy to get hooked on. For a long time I was a hardcore bleach fan and samurai x and I kept hearing about one piece being a great anime, so I had to see for myself. The first 50 episodes didn t convince me enough to better than bleach, but as it kept progressing the adventures, comedy, fights, and overall goals got interesting and better. Everybody has their opinion about which anime is the best, but you can t deny that one piece is at least up there among the best anime and is not just average or okay.

WTF?
Who says One Piece is better than Berserk?
That's just bias.
I'm a huge One Piece fan, but I never stated that it was better than Berserk. From what I've seen, Berserk looks quite interesting.
5 Reasons why One Piece is awesome:
1. Battles
2. Causes for fighting: friendship, saving people, war, fight against evil, to go against the government, etc
3. Comedy
4. Characters
5. Plot
Berserk is popular as well as Fullmetal Alchemist.
To each their own
You don't have to see why One Piece is amazing. You like your thing and some others like their own thing.

The best timings in battle, Impactful emotions, unimaginable Adventures.. Connecting loops, character design.., Unthinkable twists and not even a single clue about the climax.., (it almost covers all the myths.. example: skyland, mermaids.) if you are good observer/had a good experience with mangas/anime., then you will know that onepiece is the best, it is the only anime you can compare with dragon ball.

Yes, One Piece is the best anime in the world! You can not compare other anime with One Piece.
