Should I stop taking Prozac while TTC?

I have been taking Prozac on and off for many years now. Does anyone know if this will affect my chances of conceiving? Should I stop taking it while trying?

I think that it's more important that you stay on Prozac while TTC. It's an emotional roller coaster as is. It's important to keep your mental health during this period.

Once you get pregnant I'd discuss whether to continue the Prozac with your doctor. There is a lot of conflicting studies about pregnancy and prozac.

It's not a good idea to discontinue antidepressants without monitoring by a doctor.

Source(s): I've been on Prozac since 2001 and had two health boys while taking Prozac.

What should I avoid while taking fluoxetine?

Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of fluoxetine.

Ask your doctor before taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for pain, arthritis, fever, or swelling. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others. Using an NSAID with fluoxetine may cause you to bruise or bleed easily.

This medication may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.

I understand your frustration, my dear.

Believe it or not, my husband and I tried to conceive for more than 8-months. We tried to refrain from sex for days and even weeks but it didn't help.

Worst part is, there were empty hopes - I thought I was pregnant but in the end I wasn't. It's really frustrating and I understand that.

I was in Yahoo Answers and in this section quite some time ago and I ask a question similar to yours and a person recommended me a book. It's entitled "Getting Pregnant Bible". I swear it's like a gift from God!

It teaches stuffs like the seven things you need to do before even you try to get pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy; the appropriate diet to conceive; how to increase your husband's sperm count; the ovulation cycle and many others!

I am already having my 4th child now! I really recommend that you try reading this book out. Also, they are currently giving free bonus books like fertility secrets and choosing your baby gender! It's for a limited time only!

i would stop taking it anyways because if you do get pregnant then you don't want to be taking any antidepressants. they could harm the fetus.
