Pre employment screenings test for STD's?

My best friend is paranoid that she will not be able to get a job because she has heard they test for STD's and she has one. It is nothing life threatening, but she has heard she won't get a job because of it. How can I ease her mind??

I've been drug tested for several jobs and been given an involuntary vaccine to work for a hospital but I have never ever been tested for an STD.

If she's not in healthcare working directly with patients then I wouldn't worry about it. She's not covered under the Civil Rights Act. Having an STD, with the exception of HIV, would not be considered a "disability."

That's false unless you are applying for a job as a sex worker (i.e in a brothel). Your standard jobs, at most, will do a physical to make sure that you are able to bend and stretch in certain ways (if lifting is required on the job), and some will test things like visual acuity and hearing if those assets are necessary to maintain safety on the job. Jobs that require weapons (like police officers) also require a psychiatric examination as well... but no STD testing, unless you are going to be in a profession where you have sexual contct with clients (again, like a brothel).

I'm pretty sure that not hiring based on a medical condition is discrimination, so if that's going on it's illegal. Unless she's applying for a job in which swapping body fluids is necessary, I don't think she should be worried.
