Anybody else feel like the parenting board is going to the trolls?

It's not just the idiotic trolls with their stupid fetish questions and nonsense that have ruined the parenting area on YA, but a whole host of things- including the people running YA.

The problems are compound.

* TROLLS

* Teenagers or people posing as kids asking stupid questions or answering parenting questions because "i babysat for a long time" or some other ridiculous reason they give thinking it is authoritative and taken seriously.

* questions that have no business being in parenting areas at all- "do you like my novel", "I need names for my dog", "do you like this shirt". Just because YA suggests a category does not mean that it is the best one for the question! People don't think before they post!

* people attacking everyone else because they don't like that someone may say something differently than them or do something different from how they would.

It's many things. If YA would screen these questions better we wouldn't have 500 questions everywhere saying "am I pregnant if.." or other questions that are repeated continually by people. There should be a way to block questions all ready asked from being posted by someone else. They should take people that ask obvious fetish questions and remove them from the board. They should better screen these questions so when you get this "I'm 11" or other nonsense they are removed- along with the person posting it- because their own guidelines say 13 and older- but they do not enforce it when these people post as younger ages. Some of the other boards are nasty to other moms who don't 100% agree with them or too sugary. There is no happy medium with normal anymore.

What to Expect has a much better pregnancy and early childhood site than any other I have seen yet. It is my personal favorite. The site has a way for you to make a profile to share with friends and family as well as lots of tools to help you keep track of things. It is especially great while pregnant (I know from personal experience) but I don't know how great the parenting part is.

I think there is alot of unscreened nonsense going on too but I try hard not to feed into it. I only answer questions I feel I can contribute useful information to. With me I have gone through a rough life and if I can help one sincerely lost soul it makes my bad life a little more bearable. I think alot of the problem is selfish attention hungry teenagers who are bored and on punishment. But that's my personal opinion.

Yes I agree.There are way to many trolls on this board now.You could check out the Mothering Magazine Forum.They have some pretty great advice and such,they do not allow spamming and they have boards for pretty much every subject you can think of..

Yep, but trolls come and go and hopefully the good users on here will stick it out and continue to ask interesting questions and give good advice, facts, and opinions.

I actually enjoy it because people on here are willing to speak their mind and give honest opinions, whereas on other sites everyone's overly nice even when they hate what the other person is doing/planning/going to name a child etc.
